So no. Don't blame vaccine hesitancy for sending doses out.

2. Covishield shelf life is 6 to 9 months. It hasn't been 6 to 9 months for government to consider shipping it out ASAP because people were refusing.

This is 100% the government's mistake. Don't blame the people.

Covishield was manufactured way back in Aug/Sep 2020 when the approvals were not even in place. It was a high stake risk which Poonawala took and it worked for him. Again, a single Google search would go a long way.

Also, in the past one month that people have seen the crisis that they have mostly started taking the vaccines seriously. If you think hesitancy wasn't there just have a look at the wastage data. Stats won't lie.

Another diversion tactic by the nincompoop Government trying to divert the ire of the public to something else. No country will give away their resources when they themselves are still in the pits. If India did it with Modi and his Bhakts boasting incessantly about how they have become the Vaccine donors of the world, it clearly not just shows their dumbness but also more importantly their lack of vision and preparedness for the future.

All of Covishield doses were not manufactured on Aug 2020.

C'mon, even Google will tell you as much. Serum Institute was supposed to manufacture 1.1 billion doses BY May. Not in August. They didn't deliver what they promised. And out of what they did come up with, 60 million plus were sent abroad.

On top of it, higher efficacy vaccines have been refused.

None of it has anything to do with aam junta refusing. This is the government.

What nonsense is this? India should ban these kind of idiots from Twitter at least until we pass this calamity. Biden is taking revenge on India because of their support for Trump? Where do they pull out such stuff from?😳

That's the case with every vaccine. Countries booked vaccine doses before they knew if they would even work. These companies like Pfizer and Moderna wouldn't have been able to work at that speed in the first place if the US govt didn't pump in so much money.

There is no excuse for why a few million vaccines would be wasted in a country of a billion plus people. At least the front line workers would have been ready to take them. Vaccine hesitancy only comes in after a certain amount of the population has already been vaccinated.

Poonawala isn't the savior you think he is. He is on record saying they were making profits at even 150 rupees but now they're charging 600 rupees privately? Covishield is home-made and charging up to 1200? Who is allowing them to set such exorbitant prices? I suspect a lot of babus are filling their pockets to allow such carnage.

The disheartening thing is even in the middle of a crisis situation, government is focused more on PR to deflect blame instead of getting on it.

They're still insisting on vaccinating 100 people with RNA vaccines and monitoring them before approving. Which means another few weeks of unnecessary delay.

Someone's gotta be making money off this somewhere. Nothing else explains this behavior.

This cracked me up. Biden is not a schoolyard bully to take revenge over Modi sucking up to Trump. Foreign policy does not work that way.

The US has had the worst outbreak in the entire world with the most number of cases and most deaths. Of course they will prioritize their own country to receive vaccines that they themselves funded. I'm surprised Indian nationalists are the ones crying so much. Isn't this what you all advocate? It's not so fun anymore, is it?

I genuinely hope the US figures out a way to help. But if your house is on fire, you have to put out your fire first before you help others.

Let alone the poor hand to mouth people, a lot of the lower middle class folks cannot pay that kind of money for something that they are not even sure of. Vaccines should be made free by which they can not only eliminate these kind of greedy foxes but also it encourages people to come forward with more enthusiasm. I myself know of some folks in my relatives who were hesitating to take the vaccine because they couldn’t imagine spending that kind of money on a vaccine.

Yes, not all of it was produced then, just like not all of it was sent away. I think some fact checker (a critic of the current govt) even shared the pics of the boxes being sent to other countries with the expiration dates highlighted claiming how Modi was claiming high ground when actually he's just disposing off the soon-to-be expired vials.

Even right now, India has enough jabs to carry on with the vaccination drive throughout May. SII is looking for raw materials so that it can continue its production in June/July. If there's a shortage in Kerala(and I believe you that there is) then I'm guessing it has more to do with logistics and Babudom. The demand vs supply issue. That the sudden increase in demand wasn't expected so the required orders weren't placed or whatever the process is. Coz right now even in UP(which is the most populous state) or Maharashtra (which is literally ravaged and vaccinating the highest number of people daily) there is no vaccine shortage.

This Govt has f*cked up on most of the fronts when it comes to handling this crisis. This I don't believe is one of them. Baki you do you👍🏼
