Indians in general are a brown and generally short people compared to Westerners. But they despise everything about themselves and the closer to Caucasian you look, the better. The taller you are, the slimmer your nose, the lighter your eyes, the whiter your skin... the less Indian you look, the better.

We see it here on the forum itself. People make nice comments on a topic like this but go back to their normal insults in other topics. People like Alia get trashed all the time for their height and mocked how her boyfriend could possibly like her after dating Kat and Deepika. It's disgusting.

Completely agreed. And whenever i speak in support of alia for very poor comments targeting her body, i get shut down by scores of so called educated IF members. And no, no amount if reporting these body shaming comments to mods can help it. Its ignored. Perhaps because the people making these comments are 'popular'

Her skin tone matches SRK. Wheatish. That's it.

Actually yes, internationally, we Indians are brown, even if having fair complexion.

One incident which I can never forget is a Tamil lady's comment to my aunt , she was like how come this girl is so black and ugly when her sister is very fair .She thought that I can't understand Tamil. I was just 7 then . My photographs displayed in studios , the compliments I get for my features is a proof that I am not ugly , it is just the colour .

Also my sister used to stammer a lot .So You can imagine the horror. oh also the classic " You guys are sisters. Your features and skin color are so different ."

It was good to read.

But hope she won't do a lot of fair skin treatment later. Like all the dark skinned actresses do. Kajol, Deepika, Priyanka..

I'm extremely light skinned and I find darker shades more beautiful. It's just gorgeous, all the honey tinted glow and the lush of velvety melanin on skin.

No one's shaming Alia for her skin color, people just comment on her average not very feminine looks as per the glamour industry standards. She was cute when she started out but lately she looks unwell due to some extreme dieting.

She's a good actress depending on the script and she gets enough praise (in fact more than necessary). I'm not saying its okay to call her mouse-faced, chuha etc but not sure what's problematic with members talking about her general unattractiveness.

Even with her writing tone. She doesn't sound pissed or angry nor her tone is condescending. She just wants people to accept her as she is and shes happy being who she is. You go girl!! You are beautiful and I love you❤️

Yes I loved her cheerful non-bitter tone!

Wow-she is dark skinned? In my family-especially dad's side-she would be considered a very fair skinned girl!😃

1. Am I misunderstanding it, or are some here mocking her for writing in English?

Percentage of native Hindi speakers in India - 43.63%

So 56.37% don't speak Hindi as mother tongue, one of who would be moi. I can understand spoken Hindi partly from context, but reading Hindi would be impossible and understanding Hinglish near impossible.

OTOH, most Indians on social media do understand English.

I think a very reasonable choice to reach a wider audience.

Moreover, Indian English is now accepted as a form of English like American or Australian.

2. Great attitude. She'd been coming across as too wannabe the last few years which is weird when she's SRK's daughter😆. But wearing clothes and makeup way too mature for her age (at that time), the Vogue cover... all of it left a bad taste in the mouth. I like this version. There is nothing so attractive in anyone, man or woman, as self-confidence and a clear sense of self-worth.

That was a good call by Suhana to address the derogatory comments. She has undoubtedly been subjected to unnecessary hate before even stepping up to the showbiz career and that's definitely unfair.

Desi society is home to some of the lowest and most disgusting mentalities out there and it doesn't help that literacy is not 100% yet. But let's look at the supposedly "educated" ones even in bollywood too. Didn't Kareena call Bipasha a "kaali billi" as an insult because Bips is dark skinned while Kareena is put on a pedestal for her "beauty," thanks to her Caucasian white looks?

I find both Kareena and Karishma hideous despite their skin color, however, and if it weren't for their last names, they would be nowhere. If their own social circle resorts to making such remarks in public, one can only imagine the kind of comments that must come out of their mouths in private. The celebrities themselves play a huge role in perpetuating the colorism/racism/whathaveyou. I hope they're reading Suhana's insta cuz I can bet you a dollar they all make fun of her looks behind her back too.

--------------------

Offtopic but I'm tempted to address the moral lectures Alia fans are dishing out here. Bollywood is a showbiz industry and beauty matters, and is up for scrutiny to a certain extent. If someone who is average looking is propped up as some "beauty queen" when she's not, they will hear it from others who see right through the farce. There's absolutely nothing wrong or demeaning about calling Alia out for her being an average looking girl who tries to pass herself as something she's not.

I've noticed over time that hypocrisy knows no bounds when it comes to certain Alia fanatics on this forum who defend nepotism/cronyism day and night, bend over backwards to make her look good and create hundreds of threads to bash other celebrities and laugh at derisive comments there. Hell, they even bash MEMBERS to their heart's content but the MOMENT someone criticizes Alia's external beauty (or lack thereof) or her "education level," or calls her out for the obviously biased PR, they start dishing out how people should refrain from commenting on her height and looks and be "compassionate."🤪

Never mind the fact that Alia, Kjo or her dad have not displayed an iota of compassion or self-awareness in public platforms, doesn't matter that they publicly mock others but WE should be compassionate towards them. Are these people for real?😆

One can always tell where these people's loyalties lie just from their comments and selective "compassion" lectures. Spare people your fanaticism here at least cuz the entire forum knows you are not saints and spend a considerable amount of time bashing members daily here.

Other than your "soul," nothing should be up for discussion then cuz people might take other attributes personally too, why just stop at looks? Someone somewhere might be offended by the way you keep deriding Kangana's choice in men, ever thought about that? Meanwhile, you people still come here to dish out your 2 cents and criticize celebrities here, don't you?

You can't put Alia down for her looks, you can't call her out for lobbying and stealing roles, you can't call her out for nepotism, what DO you want people to do exactly? Not have an opinion so you can keep singing her praises uninterrupted? 😆 How about someone request the mods to turn this forum into an Alia fanclub since they take every comment as a personal jab at THEM. I am more than happy to refrain if it's an exclusive fanclub. 🤬
