Why should they do? Say after 5 years, their movies start flopping. Can they still demand same fee (or higher), as they have more experience in their acting career?

For every problem in Bollywood, Khans are responsible. For every problem in India (including blocked drain) Modi is responsible.
It happens only in India.

why would they do anything? They are the co producers for the major big projects. They reduce heroines to flowerpots, take away all the credit for the success of the movie and keep increasing their own fees for the next movie. This has been the cycle.
Take CE and HNY for example...deepika was the main attraction and shahrukh khan was completely overshadowed by her. But even then shahrukh khan stole the entire credit for the success and his fans till today refuse to acknowledge deepu's contribution.🥱This is why actresses like deepika, kangna, etc aren't keen on doing movies with them. They gain nothing out of working with superstars.

Amir khan is another example. He was terrible in dhoom3, PK, strictly average in TZP n dangal ...and still he managed to steal creditfrom the other star cast. He openly calls Katrina item girl for TOH.lol

They are the primary reason for the wage gap. Duh

Superstars or the actresses can't do anything except whining and complaining. Celebs get paid according to their box office pull. The problem lies with us sexist audience who can't make a female superstar. It's we only who accept the actresses in eye candy roles, though they are talented enough to carry a film on their own. No one wants to see women-centric movies except a small number of niche audience. Bollywood is dominated by male actors because the audience wants them to rule.
India is a Democratic country and it'll happen what the majority wants. If the audience gives the same value to the actresses like their male counterparts, then they will get the same wages. Bollywood is a business industry and it runs on demand and supply.

Are you really serious??
SRK and Aamir are much bigger stars than Deepika, Katrina or Anushka. They get maximum credit for their movies, because they are the face of their movies. They attract the maximum audience to the theatres.

Really, Deepika was the main attraction of CE and HNY?? How??
If you are talking about acting, then I'll say Nawazuddin was the main attraction of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. But no way on earth that movie crossed 300 Crores because of him, when his solo movies don't even cross 50 Crores.

If the Superstars get the credit then they also get the maximum blame when the movie fails. No one was talking about Anushka when JHMS flopped at the box office.

Superstars ke kandhey per sab bojh kyun and that too only the Khans?
The other male stars dont have any responsibility?

Anyway the main fault lies with the current audience that they dont give value to heroines, treat them as item girls or showpieces and only gush abt the male stars in major movies.

Till 2 decades back, there were female superstars like Sridevi and Madhuri who often got paid more than their male leads.
Now audience and BW have become more sexist and male oriented.

Before signing a movie, top heroines shd negotiate their price according to the screentime they have in the movie and their own popularity in general.
Only audience can help reduce this wage gap by appreciating and acknowledging the work of female actors enough so that producers are compelled to pay them what they deserve.

Shahrukh khan lost the battle when dilwale and BM clashed.
Deepika came out winner.
Bhansali is investing 200 cr on her.
Contrary to that shahrukh khan's last movie barely made 50 cr.

Shahrukh bigger star, my foot!

^ SLB was forced to take Shahid Kapoor as second male star (and bringing tally to 3 stars) in the movie, before distributor doled out said money. So now Padmavati has 3 stars - Ranveer, DP and Shahid. And this is even after BM won the clash. I am sorry to inform you but Bollywood is sexist and no amount of foot stomping will change it. 😊

Why only blame Indian audience?

Isn't that the same worldwide? HW actresses are paid less (they are the ones started to complain and Kangana like everything else, started to follow the trend)

Do people really believe today's society is more sexist than the 1960s to 1980s when BW actresses had meatier roles?

Today people are more outspoken (also whiners sometimes), grievance industry is thriving like never before

Everybody is perpetually outraged about something or other

That's not how you measure stardom. Baahubali is the highest grossing Indian movie. But that doesn't means Prabhas is India's biggest Superstar. He's not bigger than the Khans and Rajnikanth in fan-following.

Dilwale lost the clash because it was a bad movie. If you want to compare the stardom, then compare the opening of the movies. That's a more fair way to judge the box office pull.

Dilwale opening : 20 Crores
BM opening : 12 Crores

Now you will say that Dilwale also had Varun.😆

Fair enough!!!
So let's compare the opening of movies in which only SRK and Deepika were the sole crowdpullers.

Fan opening : 19 Crores
Piku opening : 5 Crores

Deepika is a Superstar only on IF, not in reality.
