I also think a death penalty is like a gift, no, they should be tied to piles naked and not given food and water
I am aware about human rights but I think if people who go on to such heinous crimes and don't even spare small babies, they don't deserve to be called humans.Unfortunately waiting for people to change their mindset in India is a process that will never happen or will take Another 2000 yearsThe problem is not only that men aren't taught to respect women but also because women aren't given freedom to go out at anytime and anywhere whenever she wishes whereas most parents have no idea what their grown up or juvenile sons are doing at the moment and where they are. Too much strictness on girls and too less on boys resulting in streets filled with boys and in between them walks one girl alone. Mostly at nights because parents keep their girls locked in at nights instead of their sons and those same sons rape others' daughters

But the reality is reality, no matter how I feel regarding this issue, I do get scared to go out after dark, or to walk past a bunch of men on the road even during daytime.
I feel world has come to a place beyond repair. We can only give healthy parenting to our children... like my parents did, but despite the courage they gave me, I still get scared, I also think, wouldn't I be going mad with stress if my daughter was walking down the street after 8 pm?...It all comes back to society changing. Only God knows when it'll happen.

It's not just Indian society. Rapes have been increasing all over the world, but yes, in Asian societies it's higher because of gender discrimination that is so rampant in society.
First of all, laws should be stricter and more brutal. While I'm happy that the people responsible for Nirbhaya case were given death sentence, I am not happy it took this long. Punishments against rapists should be instant, no questions asked and no delays. When the law is so lax against rapists, people think they can get away with anything, and thus there is no fear of law. When rapists (be they man or woman) are executed immediately after the crime, then people think twice before committing such an act against someone else. This should be the same against any forms of abuse. Men or women who physically abuse each other, who beat each other to death, should also receive no mercy. When laws are stringent and harsh in cases of crimes, like they are in other countries, then rapes and abuse crimes will automatically decrease.Of course, mindset of society is also important, but to change that will take years and generations. It is so ingrained in current mindset that it wont' change overnight.
