Munna Bhai Lage Raho:- Is Pleadging in front of Judge for some Leniency, do you think..He deserves some kind of liberty from court....Please Comment !!!

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who was convicted on Tuesday in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, on Thursday, urged the TADA court to give him lesser punishment as he was the sole earning member of the family.

Sanjay told judge P D Kode that the burden of his family had fallen on his shoulders after the death of his father late Sunil Dutt 18 months ago.

"I have a young daughter aged 18 studying in New York and I am supporting her as her grandparents are old. Her future depends on me," he said.

Sanjay said his father had started a cancer foundation 23 years ago after the demise of his mother, actress Nargis Dutt, and now he had taken up the work. The foundation is based in the United States and Canada, and it purchases equipment and sends them to India to help cancer patients who cannot afford the treatment.

"I personally raised funds for the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for tsunami. I love the country and the people of the country. Please show mercy and leniency on me," Sanjay told the judge.

Sanjay told the court that he had been in custody for 16 months prior to his release on bail in October 1995.

"I was on bail for 11 years and there was no complaint of misuse of liberty when I travelled within the country and abroad. I abided by the conditions imposed by the court," the 47-year-old actor said, adding that he had no previous cases pending against him.

Well he does have the right for leniency if this is the only case on him and he was not convicted for any crimes....

He did not kill anyone and he is proven non-terrorist now thanks to Maharashtra govt and the court.... so legally he is allowed to plead for that..... thts the advise his lawyers gave him....

He has stronger case because he did only one mistake destruction of evidence otherwise he actually co-operated with the justice system of India

How much money did Munnabhai MBBS make? How much is LRMB making? How much money has Sunjay Dutt made since he got out of the TADA jail? Wasnt Khalnayak a smash hit? Daughter getting educated in NY, send her to the same school where the kids of the bomb victims go to, then you will realize😡

Everyone claims he is not a good citizen now, forget the conversations of Sunjay Dutt with Mahesh Manjrekar/Chotta Shakeep way after he got out of the Jail, and got disproved on a technicality. The guy would just not change

Sunjay Dutt's sentence should not include Jail time, he should be made to clean gutters in Kurla during monsoon time, Other time of the year, he should be made to clean the Sulabh Shauchalay's at the place's which got bombed

At the whole time a live television truck should be following him and Sunjay Dutt should be made to pay for it

I am sick and tired of the politicians/legal system being so enept in India 😡 .

I agree with a combination of the above 2. It is our system that needs some changes. Implimentation of laws should be very strict.
Celebrities are worshipped, which is unacceptable. I am surprised and quite frankly, saddened by the number of sanjay fans that buy his crocodile tears accompanied by incredibly lame excuses (supporting daughter's education in NY!!!, overlooking father's cancer rsearch funding institute! he makes more than required money for all that. ) I loved Sareg's comments on that!

His pleading makes me very sick and angry, although a SILENT APOLOGY & REGRET could have helped me change my opinion about him instead ! Playing a Gandhi-follower on screen doesn't make one Mahatma. When will the razzle- dazzled star-fans understand this???

Sanjay Dutt unwell, not appearing in court🤢
By: PTI
May 18, 2007

Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 serial blasts case, is not appearing before the special TADA court today on account of illness, his lawyer said.

"He is suffering from high fever and vomiting and is unable to appear before the court," Farhana Shah, Dutt's counsel, told PTI.

The court, which is to begin sentencing today the 100 people convicted for their role in the blasts, had ordered all of them to be present before it.

Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act for the illegal possession of an assault rifle and a pistol, but acquitted under the anti-terror law TADA.

He has applied for exemption from a prison term under the Probation of Offenders Act. The court will give its ruling on Dutt's plea during the course of sentencing.

What about the charities they do? Is it justified to commit serious crimes and then do charity?

Fans will never understand it. They get easily fooled by stars charity work and forgive them for crimes like killing people.

Celebrities and liniency is a global problem. Why the aren't they treated as normal citizen, one crime or 10 crime should not matter, if you cannot mend law for common man why them??

Another case ekdum taazaa - Paris Hilton's heard about her story, it seems her verdict was reduced for 23 as supposed to 45 days. Read full story http://thetrack.bostonherald.com/moreTrack/view.bg?articleid =199153&srvc=art

I dont think it's just India...I think celebrities, regardless of where they live, just have enough wealth to hire the best lawyers to find the biggest loopholes in the legal system, allowing them to get off waaay easy than the common man, who would rather cut his losses, save his minimal resources and serve jail time...celebrities have the kind of resources it takes to make cases drag on forever and to get the best deal they possibly could get at the end of it. Take the whole Paris Hilton case for that matter...it INFURIATES me that she's given special treatment instead of being treated like any other drink-drive case...there was also the Martha Stewart "VIP" prison where she had a ball baking cookies for her inmates 😕 . I think a lot of celebrities let their celebrity status get to their head, and think they're above the law - and it doesnt help that the wealth they have enables them to buy the best lawyers in town to further feed the misconceptions in their heads. 🤢
