UK's ghetto regions are usually filled with illegal migrants well supported by "legal migrants" from same community. For me thats the main problem.
Birmingham, Southhall, Coventry ..so many. I think economics do play a role..because usually those families try to move away from the ghetto societies. I won't lie but I get the reservations from the locals too..it has to do a lot with how people live in these pockets .

Is Bath and Body Works any good? Went into one running after my toddler and was very, very tempted...

On another note, i m missing the Pakistani textiles Went shopping for bed sheets and stuff and such boring and dull colors!! It was only the duvet covers (and accompanied pillowcases) that were bright and colorful with beautiful prints..
Again cultural i suppose ...
I may end up asking my mom to fed ex some over

I understand. Countries facing undocumented immigrants problem should continue increasing border patrol, continue deporting those undocumented, continue beefing up inspections...

I agree that we cannot avoid enforcing any laws because some people will act illegally anyways. At the same time, there has to be a cost benefit analysis on whether a policy will be beneficial or too expensive.

No tax paying citizen wants recurring crack addicts abusing welfare systems. Unfortunately random drug testing of citizens on welfare has turned out to be far more expensive and burdensome on the tax payers rather than letting some crack addicts slip through the system.

Shutting the doors to refugees is definitely a risk aversion tactic that sounds good. Since the USA has oceans cutting us off from the Middle East we are less likely to face the burden of migration as European nations. We can adapt that tactic without the problem staring us in our face. For European nations that had massive numbers of refugees just trudging through the answer wasn't easy. It is easy for border patrol to capture and deport small groups of undocumented migrants, but how does border patrol deal with hordes?

When it comes to Syrian refugees, I do not think Germany is just being big hearted and letting anyone and everyone walk in. I think they are trying to do their best with the cards they have been dealt with. They are dealing with large migrations and porous boundaries. It is one of the few European nations economically capable of housing some refugees.

I think of it as the Syrian crisis just dumped a massive steaming pile of shit on Europe. Now they are all scrambling to shovel the shit. Germany just has the largest shovel within Europe. Canada and USA are lending a hand to shovel that shit, not necessarily out of generosity - but with hope that lest there be piles of shit for us to deal with in the future - we may hopefully have some helping hands.

On another note, I never understood why people in the troubled countries still continue breeding at higher rates. Do they even know what kind of an environment they are bringing their kids into?

I agree with you. I find the normal world shitty and choose not to breed. So I do not understand how people breed in that circumstance.

But here is what the Zombie Combat Manual says on children

"Our Children. In a normal world, they represent what is best of our humanity: beacons of hope guiding our path toward a better future. In a world beset by the living dead, their beams burn a hundredfold brighter. Even the most despaired individuals, distraught over their own existence in a nightmarish reality, will often soldier on if they bear the sole responsibility as defender of their young"

I don't get it, but apparently these nasty parasites known as infants somehow give hope and strength to humans. Apparently carrying nine pound bowling balls in ones womb and shoving it out the birth canal nine months later makes people see hope for humanity. Beats me, but humans are a strange breed.

A. Caste system is deplorable
B. Taking the law into ones' hands is deplorable

In that order.

The political implications don't interest me.

I think they have (or should have) caps / numerical limits for each category of immigration. For instance, in US, H-1B is capped at 65,000 with 20,000 exemption for master's degree holders. Asylum seekers should be capped too. Right now, there is no hard upper limit, but looks like it tends to be around 20,000 per year. I don't see why they should increase this limit.

Great point about US being insulated by water. Land borders are evidently risky.

Hopefully, one day, people will be insulated by planets :)

They can't with 100% success. But they shouldn't give up altogether.

Looks like 80% of the asylum seekers who have arrived in Germany have no documents on them. Among those who have it, some of them are fake documents. It's a nightmare scenario for Germany because Merkel welcomed everyone with open arms; some EU states at least instituted some border controls and they are "safer" that way.

I don't know about bighearted but they did anyway. Maybe plain stupid.

But why even take the risk is the question.

if there is a hot burning pile of coals ahead of me, should I decide not to walk on the hot burning pile of coals at all or should I purchase some foot wear (that may or may not protect me from the hot burning pile of coals) and take the risk of walking
the hot burning pile of coals?

Waste of time!

You might as well learn some app programming if you have that kind of time.

Or a nice new recipe.
