If only the outrage was shown at real perpetrators of crime as much as it is being shown at docu for then it would be better for "image"!

Seen nothing but believing propaganda to allege it defames India or any report on rape defames India.

No different from outrage against SMJ when Aamir is accused of defaming X, Y, Z parties, states or religion or professions.

So what to do? Stop reporting any crime or discussing any issue? Just go I love my India all the time like Amrish Puri of Pardes!

As an indian who is born and brought up in india most of my life, i take offence to govt's decision to ban this documentary when Jyoti's parents are fighting their battle and want this story to be heard...i have to say bravo to them ...apart from going through the trauma of loosing their daughter , they must be facing so much pressure by authorities with regards to india image 🤢
I can't believe some people loose their thinking capabilities and become insensitive in order to be a blind follower of a phenku leader who himself doesn't recognize his wife let alone recognizing marital rape . The leader who himself is licking feet of these americans which was evident by the hoopla created when obama visited india , poles apart from the treatment given when indian pm visited US .

desigal, I admire your concern and I'm so proud that people like you exist who are over the petty hatred and are actually concerned about these issues even though they prevail in your neighboring country. Ignore the absolutely stupid comments made by one ignorant member.

Thanks for the support!
I see people, not divide. I don't see any difference between South Asians since the culture is exactly the same. Same language, almost same food, same mentality. Here in the states, sometimes you can't even tell Indians and Pakistanis apart.

And it does help that my fiance is Indian 😆
My all time favorite celebrities are are Indian. My favorite type of music is Indian and Pakistani, and one of my best friends since 7th grade is Indian.

So if anyone accuses ME of having a "vandetta" against India, you couldn't be further from the truth 😆

Lol, you're saying as if the case was suppressed by Indian govt. and the culprits have been released to save India's image. Everyone knows the story, and knew it much before this documentary came out. You make it sound as if the parents invited this Udwin to come and make a documentary on their daughter so that the world can hear their story. Udwin is making the film to serve her own purpose and India is opposing that purpose of preachy sermonising way, that is a continuation of their colonial mindset, where they portray us as a sick society which is in need of saving by the West. If you support this colonial narrative and take offence at India banning the film, then I guess you are a lot less Indian than you would want others to believe.

I can't believe some people loose their thinking capabilities and become insensitive in order to be a blind follower of a phenku leader who himself doesn't recognize his wife let alone recognizing marital rape .

What has this case got to do with Narendra Modi's marriage? He was married off when he was underage, under family pressure, but he immediately left since he felt that is not the life he wants. He did not spend time with his wife. He did not use her, abused her and then left her behind. What is your problem then?

The leader who himself is licking feet of these americans which was evident by the hoopla created when obama visited india , poles apart from the treatment given when indian pm visited US .

He did not lick feet of Americans. America is still the superpower in this world and Modi is trying to have good relations with them, but as an equal. America knows that India is one of the biggest markets at present and they want to have good relation with India to have access to this market. No licking of feet or bending over backwards involved here.
And what poles apart treatment are you talking about? Baat toh aise kar rahe ho jaise ki Modi gaya tha toh joote pare the aur Obama aaya toh sar pe beetha liye Modi ne. Atleast I didn't see anything like that happening. Modi got a good reception over there, he gave a good reception to Obama. Tumhe kya chahiye tha, Obama aaye to Modi mooh pher ke baithe rahe? That would have made you feel that Modi is not licking feet and treating him at par with the treatment he received in US?

So true, especially the bold.

Outside India and Pakistan, everyone often melds together as just desis/SouthAsians. I hear Pakistani and Sri Lankan people often have the same complaints about issues back home.

LOL!

Still talking preachy, sermonising stuff though the docu has nothing of that sort! 😆

Talk of ranting so much on something you have not watched and just heard some view about.

After Arnab's show I had wondered how scandalous it might be but it was nothing as bashers alleged.

This incident proves how media manipulates to elicit certain reaction and blinds people.

Meenakshi Lekhi also squeaked about only India's so called image to justify the ban. Totally feeble reasoning.

Their banning gave another issue to people to talk of - freedom of expression. It didn't help their image.

So many spoofs and satire on image excuse now. Omelette on face of government!

"Image"! Real incidents need not be controlled (number of rape crisis centres drastically reduced to 36, and even those 36 are not yet functional). Only reportage about them be swamped down to protect image!

Ban ADR too for revealing stats of MPs and MLAs with criminal record - to protect image that is! 😆

Whatever Indian govt. or anyone in favour of India says, you will feel that it is weak, unjustified. The moment it is a Western white skinned person saying something, whether in favour or against India, you trip over yourselves to worship that as the gospel truth.

The freedom of expression that you are talking about, why do you expect India to have the exact same yardstick as other countries or what you feel India should have as the yardstick? India has it's own interests to protect and will have it's own yardstick. Does the West take permission from others before allowing or banning or suppressing something? India will do what it feels is in it's own interest, there is no need for it to seek approval from the West or from the public fawning over the West.

I watched the documentry yesterday...my friend downloaded it b4 utube removing the link...There's nothing sensational about it, nor is it controversial. there is no anti-india statements or anything like that but it shows some peoples mentality towards women... It is a normal documentry..., intelligent reporting at its best, with the intention of changing the destructive attitude many men, and sadly, some women, have towards women. Rape is a worldwide problem, and ...Nirbhaya is part of the solution which is to make people more aware. No, women never deserve to be raped..I think our Home ministry should form an ethics committee for media...For freedom you cannot put ethics at stake.I think anyone has the right to make any movie... if u cant take it its ur fault... people who want to see will see... its democracy...
I wonder how do such idiots become supreme court lawyers... With these views god forbid if these idiots become judges, the judiciary should retire...😕

Whatever said and done it took the documentary to awaken the bar council to take note of the derogatory and regressive views that these lawyers had been making for more than a year now. That says something!

The lawyers views have been condemned earlier as well. So has been the views by some ministers or people in positions of power or responsibility. Legal action came now, for whatever reason, but that doesn't mean nothing had happened before this.
