Update: The moderator (souro) has taken the liberity to remove the links and posted the above message. Oh I thought this was the debate mansion in a website that runs from the world's biggest democracy, I didn't realize I was instead posting in a North Korean site. As far as I know, I was posting on a world wide website which many people outside India access daily.

It is scary how much power we give moderators to censor us based on their own bias. The moderator feels that the documentary is anti-india. Although he/she has the right to feel however, others can see for themselves. You can see the bias of india-forum's moderator here:

"Yes, my bias is pretty clear. To me my nation comes first rather than irrelevant people and their views worshipping the whites. Even if I was not a moderator, I'd have still spoken against you and reported the link to the appropriate authorities for violating the ban. Let's see how India-Forums can do business in India by violating Indian laws. You want to watch the video and discuss about it, do it on a website of a country where it is not banned and let's see how much respect you get from the people from that country."

Us irrelevent people better get on worshiping whites instead of fighting for something we believe in.

After having watched the documentary in its entirety, I can conclude that all the hoopla about banning it in India is unfounded. The victim's parents are interviewed and it okay with it being released. The mentality of these rapists do not end with just the rapists. There is a vein that gives life to their mindset that is embedded much deeper in society. Just listening to the defense lawyer (who is supposed to uphold the law of the nation) speak in such derogatory fashion speaks volume. Sure the rapists have a right to a fair trial, however the lawyer has no right to pass such comments on the character of the rape victim or how girls and women should behave. The blame should be on the rapists and the rapists alone. What the lawyer can defend is his client's involvement in the rape but not if rape is justified - that is not debatable. What the lawyer is insinuating is taking away basic human rights from females because they are not adhering to his vision of Indian culture which he says is "best". He has no authority to makes those remarks. It is not about freedom of speech but rather about him taking away human rights. His thoughts are much more scarier and is just a symptom of a huge issue.

I can also safely say that I believe that some members of the government want it to be banned because they do not want it to go public. They do not want their "reputation" or izzat tarnished globally. In doing so, they are trying to cover up something that clearly needs to come out in the open. We need to protect human rights of the neglected half of the population. That begins with a dialog. No one should feel shamed to speak of sexual assault or rape, it is not their shame but rather the rapist's/molester alone. It is not just about education but a shift in mentality that is required.

I like many other was sitting on the fence thinking maybe it will hurt the sentiments of many and that the documentary might just be sensation created to gain publicity. However, after watching it, I cannot say it is further from the truth.

Nahi re...why blame the education system?...we are also a product of the same education system...the people who protested on the roads for Nirbhaya are also the product of the same system...its their (lawyers) perverted minds and upbringing that should be blamed.

One of the most painful experiences to watch this...but also one of the most enlightening.

They nailed it on the head how the culture is very much to be blamed.

And by culture I mean ALL DESIS, India, Pakistan, Bagnladesh.

The mentality is to be blamed and it starts from a young age. When the boy is raised to believe that he is the king and above women. The girls are given less rights from a very young age and the boy is told he can walk free, "boys will be boys".

And it's that very cycle that repeats. A vicious cycle.

He grows up thinking, no, KNOWING, that he is above women and can do with them as he pleases. They are meant for his pleasure and serve no other purpose. He is above them.

And that if she dares step outta her limits, her boundaries, HE will put her in her place and teach her a lesson. She should know better than to be seen outside her house. She should be kept at home, where she belongs, washing HIS clothes, cooking HIS food. Subservient.

This needs to change. But how? How will this change when the mothers are equally to blame for raising their boys in this manner?
