If it is as u say Aparna that no one is forced to sing the song then there should be no problem.

If someone wants to sing it then it is their choice, their right and their perrogative to sing it and no one else has a right to stop them from doing it.

If someone doesnt want to sing the song they shouldnt be forced to but that doesnt mean that they shouldn't respect it. If someone feels that their religion is conflicted because of this then they shudn't sing it but that doesnt mean that they can say that muslims should not allow their children to recite this song or judge other muslims that do recite it.

This whole thing is a simple matter of choice and respecting other people's choices. We cant impose our feelings/our religions on other people.

I have a question that might be silly.
But for those that literally believe in the "bow before none but god" concept what do they do in school, assembly etc? Every school is different and most have assembly where there is a prayer, school song and some other song before announcements. How do they manage.
I dont intend to offend anyones sentiments here just curious-

may be hindus r allowed to bow anyone even cows [i have heard this dat u ppl consider cows n monkeys sacred]

I cant talk for all those you call - u people- but I definitely bow before a cow and a monkey every morning.

I also pray to a plant (trees too) and I thought this would have been evident from kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi by now, at least from the TRPs.

It has been suggested I do these things not ruled by law-

suggestions and rules are different things.

God apaprently suggested we focus on other things too apart from bowing before cows and mokeys.
Most of us therefore try to focus on those other important things and miss the bowing part.

Do you think god minds?

How do you come to the conclusion it is -such a little thing-

see now finally im telling all hindus , christans , jews , budhists etc etc etc datmuslims R NOT ALLOWED TO BOW ANYONE EXCEPTALMIGHTY ALLAH NOT EVEN THEIR MOTHERLAND N IF THEY DO SO SO THEY R NO MORE MUSLIMS BUT THEY R 'mushrik'so y u ppl r almost forcing muslims to bow india 😕😕😡

With what authority are you telling all hindus, Christians, Jews, Budhdhists about all Muslims?

Noone is forcing anyone. Get your facts correct before your venture into further ridiculousness.

plz do try to UNDERSTAND OUR RELIGION ISLAM n donot force us to do things which r not allowed in our religion.
may be hindus r allowed to bow anyone even cows [i have heard this dat u ppl consider cows n monkeys sacred]

I have addressed your concern about Hindus in a previous reply. I am sure you dont know squat about advaita vedanta so in further please dont post absurd statements about who hindus are allowed to bow before and who not-

( I also suggest you speak only for yourself and not all muslims, they might have their own brain to think with)

but V MUSLIMS R TOTALLY DIFERENT FROM U PPL

y? do u ppl want them to become mushriks from muslim coz of india? SO GIVE INDIAN MUSLIMS A RIGHT TO LIVE IN INDIA N STOP IMPOSING HINDUISM OR ANY OTHER RELIGION ON THEM

Muslims are -totally different- from - u ppl- How so?

Indian muslims have every right to live in India.

I thought that decision was made a long time ago and without needing your stamp of approval. And I thought we had way more Muslims than most other countries.

Did you not care to read about history or havent you kept up with current affairs?

I WAS TOOO MUCH DISAPPOINTED AFTER READING THIS POST 😕 y u ppl try to teach muslims dat wt is god n ram , ALLAH , r same? no for muslims their is only one god n he is ALMIGHTY ALLAH n ram n all other hindu gods donot exist for us n so v r allowed to bow only ALLAH

Too bad the post dissapointed you, your dissapointed me too. It might be hard to impress upon readers like you what is called as -reason-

I think we have a better National Song in 'Saare Jahaan Se Acha' which was written in praise of our motherland whereas 'Vande Mataram' was written in praise of Bengal and it became popular at the partition of Bengal in 1906 or 1909, I am not sure. I studied in a Central School (Kendriya Vidyalaya) and we used to sing 'Saare Jahaan se acha' at every function. I wonder why suddenly Vande Mataram is brought back and imposed on schools? Same old game of politicians to divide us Indians.

'Saare jahaan se achcha hindusitan hamaraa
Hum bul bule hai is ki, ye gul sitan hamaraa'.

All this reminds me of the time when in our school we were used to say the following pledge with the following lines daily:

"All Indians are my brothers and sister" and it was funny that we used to add "except one/few" at the end to ensure that we do not break the pledge and at the same time keep our options open. 😆😆

Okie back to the main issue:

Well with some religious fanatics the song "Saare Jahan se Accha" can also be a objectionable as it says "Hindustan" and they may feel that its again not showing the true secular picture of India as only Hindu word has been used.

Tomorrow may be some other group or community feel that its wrong to call the country as motherland and should be referred as "fatherland" (like the germans). And no one can force them to call it motherland.

So it difficult to PLEASE everyone in democratic India.

With due respect to all religion. I think its high time that all Indians should use their own Brains instead of following the religious clerics blindly. By bringing religion into everything is certainly going to create unharmonious atmosphere and will further alienate them from other communities.

BTW I found what they think is objectionable in Vande Matram:

"According to the tenets of Islam, one could love one's country and even lay down one's life for it if the circumstances so demand. But when it comes to worship, only Allah is given that honour. A Muslim cannot worship his or her parents, motherland and even the Prophet though they are held in high esteem"

I think this will be a never ending debate....

oki, I didn't read the whole topic, but just read/glanzed through parts of it.

if the Indian GOv says, first two stanzas then I don't think Indian Muslims should have a problem with that!! I personally like the version sung by AR Rehman, and sing along it. the problem stanza, which can be onjected is the 4th stanza i guess. but its not a big deal, Muslim kids just don't recite that part. simple!!!

I think its time for ppl to open their minds a little. get over with the azaadi fight years. I know so many verses of the Aarti. ( I think thats what u call it??? ) saying things, doesn't make u a Hindu or Muslim. it is how u read it. it is all about your heart. I know I am Muslim, and If I read Bible, or Geeta or any other book, that will not make me of that religion. same way, if I recite Vanade Matram, I will not become Hindu.

God is one, we just have given Him so many names. you call Him Bhagwan. We call Him Allah. kya farak parhta hai???

Vijay, "sare jahan saye acha Hindustan" was written by Allama Iqbal, and he was a Muslim!! Hindustan is a name of the country. why divide it into hindustan???

Hi Sabah,

I wish world had more people like you with moderate and open view about religion but the irony is that its not the case.

At the drop of hat there are slogans like "Islam/Hinduitva khatre main hai" to create a sense of insecurity among religious community.

Well regarding "Hindustan" its a hindi word which is made up of 2 words (Sandhi Viched) Hindu + Sthaan (Place) = Hindustan

And I just said that some section "can" oppose to that also as the way things are going it wont be a shocker.

Well do you think if Allama Iqbal has composed "Saare Jahan se accha Hindustan hamara" is fine then "Vande Mataram has been sung by A.R.Rehman then why is it not fine.

But then again its a matter of choice. If one doesnt want to sing the National song then one must leave it upto them.

As I said its a never ending debate .... as when it comes to religion most of the people tends to think from their heart and not with their mind and thus you cant have logical reasoning.

I too like i said previously , no one should be forced , and having changed so many schools and even taught in some , our National song has never been forced. It should be sung with pride.

Whats very annoying and sad is when religous clerics deem it perfectly fine to annouce to their people that you should NOT sing it as is the case now. And Pass judgement.........calling them bad muslimsjust because they want to sing it out of choice.

hehe, Duniya main achye log kaam kaam hotye hain!!! 😎 lol ..............j/k

ya, well u know the extremists don't let ppl think out of the box or circle, whatever they are in. even if ppl want to get out of all this mess, they keep emotionally blackmail them, and give lectures on how GOd will be angry on them. so their brains stop working.

jee, I know what Hindustan means!! 😊

when did i say, it is wrong of Rehman to sing Vande Matram??! its a national song, there are so many national songs in Pakistan, that thank "Allah". and all sing it, doesn't matter what and who they are.

well, its a never ending debate for those, who aren't willing or trying to understand a simple thing. Watan watan hota hai, dharam dharam hota hai. (aur kuch kuch hota hai!! lolz ) but mushkil yeh hai, that some ppl don't know how to use brain and heart at the same time. many of them have stored their brains in a cool dry place, away from childern's reach!!! 😃
