So incase "lack of advertising " is really the issue why Pakistani shows are not popular in India, then its PTV and Geo TV's fault for not advertising their product in India. That is what they need to do. It will not make any sense for Zee TV to be advertising other channels would their be. Same way as why would PTV run a advertisement for ZEE !!

Well to tell u the truth pakistani companies advertise indian dramas..n wat wud they get from it is sumthing called MONEY..ill luk for it later..since its late here..but ill give u the names tomorrow of the companies which r producing magazines of indian n pakistani n english dramas etc..y wud indian companies want to advertise in pakistan??

N as for ptv advertising zee??..well i never mentioned that pakistani channels advertise indian channels it doesnt make sense...

Pak allows pvt channels to air 6% Indian content

Islamabad, Aug 17: Pakistan, which continues to ban Indian television channels, has permitted local private channels to air six per cent Indian content in their programmes during daily transmissions. The local channels were allowed to air six per cent Indian content and four per cent English content, Minister in charge of the Cabinet Division, Major (retd) Zulfiqar Ali Gondal, told the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, yesterday. The permission was granted by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on "a reciprocal basis," he said. The channels which have been allowed to telecast foreign content are Geo News, Geo Entertainment, Ary One, Ary Digital, Indus Plus, Indus Vision, Hum, Dm Digital, Rung TV, Dhoom, TV One, AAJ, TV 2day and N-Vibe, the minister said. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) had allowed 10 per cent foreign content, including Indian programmes, on Pakistani TV channels in its 36th meeting that took place here on February 25. On behalf of Pemra, the minister said necessary action would be initiated to include 20 per cent Pakistani content on multi-national channels. "The break up of 10 per cent is that 40 per cent of the 10 per cent (that comes to four per cent) may be English content and 60 per cent of the 10 per cent (six per cent) may be Indian or other content," he was quoted as saying by 'The Post'. All Indian channels are banned in Pakistan. In several parts of Pakistan, cable operators continue to flout the ban and air popular Indian channels to get more subscribers.

OK i appreciate maybe you haven't done MBA, so let me explain. If the Pakistani mag is carrying this advertisement then the Zee or Sony as a company is paying them. Thats how they carry the adv. In a way you are correct ..........you said these companies do it for "money". Yup !! but who pays them ??????????????????????????????????????? Its the company for whom they will carry the advertisment .

I think sana has one valid point here. I remember days when bollywood was new and actress like Nargis, Madhu Bala came to this industry for bread and butter and not as fun profession. Now things have changed in India and this glamour industry is not a necessaity or force driven job, but a choice and status and not looked down upon, but sometimes looked as pride to be a celebrity. What Sana told about Pakistani film/drama industry is something i would buy.

Other point i think is like when you get things at your home you don't look outside to buy. Like bollywood relases so many films per year and then we have hollywood show popular lately too so with all these Indian viewers have their plate full with entertainment. I dont think they need more entertainment or need to look out for more show or drama.

Also, other point could be ...regional dramas. I don't remember watch many Hindi dramas, but when in india i sometime used to watch gujju dramas....we also have films and show that are so popular in south with their regional language..i know in maharashtra ..marathi dramas are very popular and good. Therefore, pakistani drama or show in urdu or hindi might not that of a attraction for indian viewers.

These are few things I could think of for why Pakistani show or drama or movie are not that popular in India compared to vice a versa.

I have never got to watch a Pakistani drama(though heard some are good). May be a smaller section of Indians watch them. I guess, it's the cultural difference that does not attract many. Just like, the western dramas and serials are not watched by all in India.

But somehow amazed at the popularity of Indian dramas n shows(which also I don't follow regularly, I am here becoz of Saregamapa)in Pakistan. So, one has to admit that these Indian serials have some kind of appeal to the South Asian community.

I hope oneday the Pakistani shows would be popular too, but the fact is today no one can deny the popularity of Indian shows as our culture's existance is deeply rooted since ages. Can't say about dramas and TV shows, but when it comes to films and music, Pakistan has to come across a long long way to catch up with Indian industry.

Wow. I cant believe this debate has gotten so heated. People are getting so crazy. After reading everyone's comments and analyzing different things here's wat i got. Pakistani serials are great because of their different stories and the fact that they tackle new issues. However, these shows dont have the glamor which people are attracted to. Same goes for indian regional shows, they are great but they are just not as popular as the new glamorized shows are. My mom hates most of the new indian shows but she loved Malgudi days (i think that is wat it was called)and i know that cause she didnt understand the language but she still watched the whole show by reading the captions. India has some great shows that are regional but they are not as popular. I dont know if they are just as popular in india but they're not so popular out of india. So the reason people are not that interested in pakistani shows or the regional indian shows is beccause they dont show 50 crore rupee mansions, tons of money and no real problems except lack of love.

Guys this was simply an opinion or my take on the issue. it is not meant to offend anyone and if i did then i am so very sorry. everybody lets try to have a calm, rational debate.

Some People here r comparing pakistani soaps only with ekta's soaps. that is not good.there r lots of really good shows much much better than Ekta's like Left Right Left, JJKN , Akela ,Vedahi,Remix , Office Office and soo many other. in the past too ( just a few years back not many) like Ashirwaad ,Alapviram, Hum Pardesi Ho gaye,Ek mehal ho Sapno Ka, Saans, Kora Kagaz, Tanha,Kashmir, Awaz-dil se dil tak etc ( list is too long).These shows have different and good story lines. but may be those people who r comparing their shows only with ekta's they themself watch only ekta's shows so they dont know abt these good Indian shows.

I have never watched any paki show so cant say they r good or not😕.but one thing if everyone is saying that their shows r much much better than indian's so why they watch these shows. why they watch our crap shows.

Again ur point is based only on ekta's actors.money plays important role in this. these actors r getting good money frm Ekta thats why they r still doing same roles. but every Ekta's actor is not type based and money minded, biggest example is Rajeev khandelwal.he is doing totally different role in LRL.

I have never watched any paki show so cant say they r good or not😕. you critisize us for judging indian actors/serials...atleast we have seen what both sides of the boarder are capable of doing but one thing if everyone is saying that their shows r much much better than indian's so why they watch these shows. why they watch our crap shows.

i watch everything😳..amercan, indian and pakistani...hehe i spend too much time watching tv😆...i take spanish in school so i tried watching spanish soaps as well...but they were speaking 2 fast 4 me 2 understand so i gave up on tht😆...if i had to choose between an indian soap or a pakistani drama i would definately choose the pakistani drama. lolz this is a very realistic situation for me...everyday, PTV Global airs dramas from 8-9 and i watch almost all of them (unless i find it boring😆) kyph and elas come on sony from 8-9 i watch both dramas...i dont watch kyph regularly so whatever i dont mind but i watch elas regularly but i put on the pakistani drama and tune in2 sony only during breaks (but i read the updates here😆)
