Vintu...

hey i've just been awfully busy. Had a little time today which i blew on that PM thread. 😆Will be back but do open up a sequel if this thread ends... Havent gone through much here except Angie's last post. had some thoughts which i'll see if i can articulate. Someone pointed me here so wanted to say hi... felt horrible about the Boston tragedy. It hit close to what was once home ground. What kind of sickos would do that!

According to a study published in Nature's Scientific Reports, the universe may be growing in the same way as a giant brain - with the electrical firing between brain cells 'mirrored' by the shape of expanding galaxies. The results of a computer simulation suggest that "natural growth dynamics" - the way that systems evolve - are the same for different kinds of networks - whether its the internet, the human brain or the universe as a whole.

When the team compared the universe's history with growth of social networks and brain circuits, they found all the networks expanded in similar ways: They balanced links between similar nodes with ones that already had many connections. For instance, a cat lover surfing the Internet may visit mega-sites such as Google or Yahoo, but will also browse cat fancier websites or YouTube kitten videos. In the same way, neighboring brain cells like to connect, but neurons also link to such "Google brain cells" that are hooked up to loads of other brain cells.

"The new study suggests a single fundamental law of nature may govern these networks", said physicist Kevin Bassler of the University of Houston. ""For a physicist it's an immediate signal that there is some missing understanding of how nature works," says Dmitri Krioukov from the University of California San Diego.

Reminds me of fractals. Start off simple then become progressively complex, iteratively.

(Couple of years back, there used to be a member called Gopal Bhai. He mentioned fractals, either in one of the universe topics or the Who Am I topics, I don't remember which, but I do remember I was stupid enough to blow it off and veer the topic in another direction. Should have lingered a little longer on fractals. Ah well! Never too late to fix stupid.)

@ Bold: Hahaha ...Stop making me jealous ..Would ya ? ..😛 ..I too wanna know how it feels to be busy in life ..Cause pretending that way ain't helping my curiosity abate ..😆

Bombing and all ? ..Right ..that's just a sign that Kali Yuga is still on .. ..Okay..I hope to see ya posting soon ..

so the Bombers were of Chechan descent. A clear case of a disconnect between the consciousness and the brains ?
I am sure Angie should be able tell us how the human brain disfunctions.

So this may seem weird, but let's think about this. We always talk about consciousness being the underlying fabric of the universe from which all things emerge (M-theory, string theory, Unified Field Theory, etc). Consciousness has been known to be the ground of being. So not only is the universe conscious like a brain, it is growing like a brain as well. But here's a question...a brain to what? Is it possible we exist as a thought within the mind of some Super Intelligence? Are we just cells in the mind of the Universe? Maybe, maybe not, but it's fascinating to think about.

Hahahaha ..Right ..Many would love to opine that way as it must feel great to be a part of some brain ..😆 ...I mean associated with that word in any which way ...<< Just kidding ..😛...The thing is ..I find the hypothesis kinda equivocal for more reasons than one ...The foremost being The asymmetry ..in the wake of recent ESA findings .. ...Also we must note that the brain is pretty well mapped ..I mean the interconnectedness is pretty well established ...The neural pathways, the transport mechanism is very well perceived ...

And this is where the outer cosmos presents us with the greatest difficulty ..I mean the graphic visualization of the early stage Universe shows those humongous masses of nebulous dust and other such matter floating at enormous distances ..yet held wonderfully well together with those unknown strings ...The non bayronic substance ..and the gravity ..which freck it up in varied isometry ...How could something be so friggin massive and yet so occult ...This is beyond me ...Obviously the creator played his hand pretty slyly ... ...We can't know it until we reach the center of the cosmic brolly ..or just go shredding it's outer crust to look to see what lies beyond it ...And You ? ...You just keep posting such crazy articles all the time to give me theme nuff to go pilling it ..How evil ...

Vintu...😛

The article was only attempting to draw a parallel between the brain and the universe in a metaphorical manner of speaking, not in a literal way.

The physical laws, the inner workings of the universe (from the largest structures such as filaments and galaxies all the way down to our neural networks and DNA), the evolution of the physical universe itself, they all seem to be governed by some mathematical formula / algorithm. Which is why, IMO, it is not a waste of time to consider fractals, golden ratio, Fibonacci series etc as a discussion point.

Aah .Right ...May it be the Lucas series or the Golden ratio ( A derivative of Fibonacci series )..They apply well in all natural, polynomial equations. Considering brain as a miniature representation of the Universe makes sense but only until we don't consider the transcendental and / or imaginary substances. And this is why I emphasized on non bariyonic substance as the greatest hindrance in the effort. 😊

I somehow believe ..The Fibonacci representation relates directly to the collapse of the Universe's Wavefunction...I mean the classical reality that we can observe...but it doesn't quite come to our rescue when we try and incorporate things like gravity ( Induced by Non Baryonic substances or strings ..) , the scope of which I guess remains indeterminate.

[K] Well, all other things being equal, as in, forces, dark matter and dark energy, exerting the same influence on the universe as on the brain, the initial "proportion" is still between the brain and the universe, because the known underlying substance is still matter in both cases.

Which leads to something like the following?

brain : mind :: universe : consciousness

Here, both the brain and the universe are "made of" baryonic matter + nonbaryonic matter

I somehow believe ..The Fibonacci representation relates directly to the collapse of the Universe's Wavefunction...

[K] Please elaborate

I mean the classical reality that we can observe...but it doesn't quite come to our rescue when we try and incorporate things like gravity ( Induced by Non Baryonic substances or strings ..) , the scope of which I guess remains indeterminate.

But may be the major part of that lies out of observer's frame of reference ensuing the collapse of the wave function limiting our frame of reference...So Brain + (Mind ) + Universe + (Consciousness )...<< If that's the scope of totality ..those two terms .Mind and Consciousness remain indeterminate ...And their preceding or succeeding values or effects become incalculable ..

Again dark matter is a big mystery .. A few physicists suggest that it's a mix of baryonic matter that can't interact well with other matter ..( Like some dead stars or so ..) or may be it is purely something that can never be quantized ...ie : Imaginary ...
