There are definitly exceptions but usually maturity comes with age. I know some really mature and understanding people of my own age and really immature ppl of my own age. A person's maturity is more individual thing..I don't really think we can generalize a person's maturity based on the stereotypes we hear about age.

For some reason though, I find that a lot of Asian kids are more mature than American kids..but that's just from personal experience though. So, I don't know if that generalization has any validity 😕 .

ya i totally agree with u...... i've noticed tht too!!!

Maturity comes with surroundings, responsibilities [willingness to fulfill them], and awareness of circumstances due to current behavior:

Surroundings: If you grew up with kids who didn't care about school, just slacked off, never did any work, you'd most likely end up with them
If you were raised by parents that gave you EVERYTHING you wanted, and didn't let you struggle one bit, you most likely think that the world is yours, no matter how you act, you'll get what you want...

but if you grew up with kids that cared about their future, you'd most likely will end up the same
If you were raised by parent's that didn't help you sometimes overcome your problems, you most likely work hard to get what you think you deserve. You'd pay close attention to your actions, so they don't hurt you in the future.

Responsibilities and Willingness to fulfill them: If your a kid that knows his/her responsibilities, then he/she is willing to live up them, he/she will not act stupid. He/she will think ahead, not just "go with the flow". If one knows his responsibilities, and has the will power to live up them, that person will be mature in the steps he/she takes to fulfill them.

Aware of Circumstances due to current behavior: If a person knows what will happen because of his/her current actions [or planned action], is mature. An immature person will most likely just do whatever, not caring for the future, and what will happen to him/her. But a Mature person will care what happens next.

So Maturity does not come with Age, but because of the three factors mention above.
