As a matter of fact, when we go to take a job we are given a complete paper that explains what we are allowed to wear in the work place. And on this paper we are strictly told that anything mini is not allowed. So I haven't seen any woman at a work place wearing anything short. Yes, in Hollywood movies we see some office women in short skirt, but it is done there to exaggerate glamour. And what is shown in Hollywood movies is far from what is real. As for cheerleaders, we all who have graduated from high school are aware of their character. Also, one reason why cheerleaders wear short skirt is to grab attention of all those who go to watch the football match. In tennis, yes women are allowed to wear short skirt. The boys just begin to enjoy it when they jump and the panties get exposed!

What about cheerleaders characters?? I happen to have been a cheerleader until last year, now I have no time for it. Does that make me a loose character girl?

And no, cheerleaders (at least not all) are not trying catch attention on the football field. My uniform had a short skirt, but a special short that matched the skirt to go over our underwear. So there wouldn't have been anything to flash anyways.

Same with tennis skirts.

Supershort skirts are not appropriate everywhere, but the business tyle suits I see in many places, and they are not vulgar at all.

Is something like this vulgar to you:

If you don't like short skirts, that's fine, and I respect that. But it doesn't mean everyone else who wears them is bad or vulgar.

We are debating here about people as whole. But for some reason you are taking it to yourself, which shows that you either lack the capability to logically debate a topic or you are feeling insecure about members' opinion on short skirts. I don't know who you are and I don't care what your character is. And as for the topic, i don't think a member has posted here to harass you. Cheerleading is originally American. Perhaps, from far it all looks very glamorous, but in reality girls associated with it are far from better. Cheerleaders can go to any extend to grab people's attention at a sport and that is why this happened in Texas:
Texas targets 'sexy cheerleading'
Texas law-makers have sent a message to the state's high school cheerleaders: no more booty-shaking at the game.
The state's House of Representatives have voted 85 to 55 to approve a bill that will forbid sexy cheers and give the Texas Education Agency authority to punish schools that allow "overtly sexually suggestive" routines at football games and other events.
The proposal must now go to the Texas Senate for consideration.
"People are calling and telling me how disgusting it is to see sexually suggestive routines on the part of marching units or cheerleaders," Al Edwards, a Houston Democrat who sponsored the bill, said.
He complains cheerleaders are "shaking their behinds, breaking it down," but the proposal does not define what constitutes suggestive cheering.
Democrat Senfronia Thompson, also of Houston, says the bill is a waste of valuable time.
"I think the Texas Education Agency has enough to do making sure our kids are better educated," she said.
"We are wasting our time with 'one two three four, we can't shake it any more?'"

all skirts are not bad. But yes there is a way for girls to wear them at work place.
When Too Short Is Too Short
Then comes the critical question of how short is "too short" for business? Most fashion magazines proclaim that the emphasis for working women is not on power shoulders but legs. This is a risky approach. Fortunately, women no longer allow themselves to be dictated to by the fashion industry about how long or short they should wear their skirts. Even the designers themselves have stated that fashion is no longer a matter of hemlines. This freedom allows women to select a hemline that is comfortable and flattering for them. Today almost any length is fashionable, and short skirts do have a place at the office...with some limitations. How women who wear mini-skirts will be viewed and reviewed by their male and female managers sometimes sets the stage for sexual harassment. In addition, a mini-skirt can be distracting and they are not user-friendly; it is very difficult to sit comfortably at a desk and it is almost impossible to bend over under any circumstances.

women have the right to wear what they want, where they want. but what malika says is not true in my opinion. so what if mini skirts are a big trend in this century? maybe next year or maybe even next month the newest fashion will be to wear full-body-covering saris (all over the world). hey, it could happen. abhi toh she is saying that miniskirts and all are a sign of living in the 21st century, par baad mein when the sari fashion trend arrives, will she be saying "covering your body with a sari is the sign that you're in the 21st century"? i dont think so.

saying that it is a SIGN of living in this era just puts all of our sophisticated indian women that we love down the drain. like they're not "with it" or something. a woman can look beautiful however she dresses.

now, if we're talking about being vulgar...i feel it's basically the girls in the entertainment business that dress in vulgar and unacceptable clothing. throughout my 17-year-old lifetime, i have not seen one woman in public exposing her skin out of limits.

yes, some do consider wearing mini and small clothing freedom. so that's their way of looking at it. i really don't care.

cheers,

LOL, you must understand that there is something called as dressing according to an occassion or dressing appropriately...if a mega model walks the ramp wearing a short skirt, no one would jibe or stare....as most of the audience are either fashion connoisseurs, or designers,or purchasers....but if the same mega model dons the same ensemble and walks on the street which is inundated with people of all backgrounds, she cannot escape the jibes.....stereotyping wouldnt work.......

coming to cheerleaders, and tennis players....again, it all in the eye of the beholder.....To me, serena williams DOES LOOK VULGAR.....but maria sharapova does not look ......the reason..serena is more sinewy, she's more heavy busted, and she needs to cover up more...I'm not asking her to wear a long skirt or anything, but her choice of the tennis costume can be better.....maria on the other hand has the perfect figure, she's sleek, slender, and her legs dont look vulgar(atleast to me)......one more thing we must remember is that not all women can look vulgar.....maria to cite....similarly, i dont think women who are flat chested, and are only skin and bones would look vulgar..Keira Knightly did not look vulgar at all in Bend it like Beckham...so its wrong to stereotype....it depends on the body structure of every individual......but even the woman who has the perfect body , if not dressed according to occassion, will be jibed.......

supershort skirts does look vulgar on everyone.....most of the women have imperfect thighs and when they flaunt their thighs wearing a mini skirt, they do look vulgar.......in schools across india, we are asked to keep the length of our skirts upto the knee(i.e. knee length).....one more thing is, no one singgles a person out and stares if all the women in the premises are donned in the same ensemble...if if the same woman moseys out all alone, she will invariable be started at

BOTTOMLINE:people must dress according to the occassion and according to their physique......stereotyping wouldnt work.....mini skirts are not a sign of the 21st era.....if inappropriately dressed, one will be stared at, jibed and poked fun at.....and the films really do not give us a real picture of what's happening......

I completely agree with you Buffie.

Everyone be it male or female should dress as per the decorum of the place. A Male going to office in vest or a la Salman Khan style 😆wld be reprimanding. Similarly going to a place of worship in revealing clothes is sacrilegious. And going to a discotheque in a complete garb would look ridiculous. Its equally important to wear clothes suiting your comfort, body type and personality and yes Age.

Senslessly copying the fashion models who wear clothes specially designed for their body size (which again is unhealthy) is demoralising and makes you look worser. Create your own style for comfort & great looks.

Imagine in this 21st century in an Indian Wedding the bride wearing a Micro Mini & tank top would invite Censure.

Dressing as per the occassion and culture which is suiting your age and physical attributes added with your personal statement will win more hearts than a designer wear worth thousands!
