why is the police "telling" women not to work? Why the eff can't they stand guard and ensure securities. India makes me sick sometimes.
My friend posted this on FB just now ... typical

Rape is a heinous crime, but it is not civilization if we need armies roaming our streets gunning down people. We have a criminal justice system for a reason. Let them be sentenced to death through a fair trial. Eye for eye system of violent justice only leads to more chaos. If the system is broken fix it, not unravel it further.
Personally though, I would like to have rapists have their privates slowly castrated with a cheese grater. I wish that punishment was on the table for serial rapists and child rapists.

That is pretty sad.Originally posted by: blue-ice
And what are the chances of one getting a fair trial in India? ...maybe one in a million...or if u r lucky enough and your case gets discovered by the media and turns into a high profile case...u might get justice...If fair trial and justice are the criteria for a civilized society...then sorry we don't have one in India...latest example is that women should not work after 8 PM ...that also in a relatively modern and advanced city like Gurgaon...where most women are educated and working...if this can happen in Gurgaon...u can understand the plight of the women in small towns...I have absolutely no faith in the Indian police or the judicial system...India shining? where and how?...no country can shine if the women won't be allowed out after 8 PM at night🤢
I guess not enough police officers to patrol and make arrests. Most of them are busy guarding the MPs and politicians.
Bring the army in and shoot the rapists on sight.

I never said the system in India is fair or efficient. In fact if you read closely, I do acknowledge the fact that the system is broken. I too have very little faith in the Indian justice system. Both society and law are in the stone ages when it comes to rape, and we have a very long and grueling journey to improve the condition of women in India. However, even though I would like to see rapists have painful punishments violence and wanton killing is not the solution to rape or any problem as a matter of fact. My point was to raise objection to the fact that bringing in an army to shoot rapists would solve the rape crisis India faces.
