Tulip, stop trying to forget things or lose memories. Keep them with you and when you're feeling down, remember those moments and help yourself realize how good you have it now as opposed to back then. Even memories that trigger painful emotions can come in handy sometimes. :)

I don't think you can - I've stopped trying. They've become a part of me now, I guess its just a process of accepting reality and making yourself realize that you can't change the past. I don't think you can ever intentionally "forget" something.

Have you heard the song "karoge yaad toh har baat yaad aayegi.." it means we remember because we want to... as humans we are veri fickle minded.. so if you dont get too invovled.. these old things will just pass you without impacting!!

Ah makes some shelves or drawers in your mind and then label them n file.
File them by topics is better.

Anyway, won't new memories replace old ones?

They seem to for me. I think I have young Alzheimer's.

Every year that goes by and more memories are added, the past seems to get fuzzier. Some years in my life have become a blur. Some experts say that I am a master at repression. I just think my brain is tiny and old.

Yeah, exactly! It doesn't work that way. Actually, it makes the memory stick stronger I think.

You have a good point, but sometimes we don't try to remember something and sometimes get reminded of it.
