Sony SAB’s Gatha Shiv Parivaar Ki Ganesh Kartikey has quickly caught the audience’s eye for its refreshing take on mythology. Featuring Mohit Malik as Lord Shiva and Shrenu Parikh as Goddess Parvati, the show explores the Katha of Shiv Parivaar.
In an exclusive conversation with India Forums, Mohit shared why he believes Ganesh Kartikey is a must-watch and how it stands apart from other mythological series on television.
Mohit revealed to us why this show is not like any other mythology show. He shared, "Jab bhi hum mythology ka naam lete hai na, toh humare dimaag me ek judgement aati hai ki mythology hai aur ek tarike se dikhayi jaati hai aur aise bade bade jewellries hoti hai, bade sets hote hai, chroma hota hai aur loud acting hoti hai. Toh ye joh judgement hai, I think ye aapko ess show mein dekhne ko nahi milega. Ye judgement thodi gayi hai aur mythology ki definition badlegi mujhe lagta hai ess show se."
(Whenever we take the name of mythology, a certain judgment comes to our mind that mythology is shown in a particular way, with big jewellery, large sets, chroma, and loud acting. So this judgment, I think, you will not see in this show. This judgment is a little gone, and I feel the definition of mythology will change because of this show.)
Aaj kal bohat log filme bana rahe hai, vo log bana ne ki soch rahe hai, they should look at this show, whoever wants to ki kitna amazing kaam kia hai VFX mein, actors ne, styling me everything precision se kaam hua hai.

Why They Never Took Up a Mythological Show Before
Shrenu adds on that, "Essi karan se maine aaj thak kia nahi tha," (For this reason, I never did till day), and Mohit says, "Same here." Shrenu then continued, "And isliye both of us wanted ki hum ya toh ye pattern break kare ya humare saath likha hua tha ki ye hona tha." (And that's why both of us wanted either to break this pattern or this was already written for us to happen.)

Mohit then said, "I think I'm very proud of the show because the kind of stuff we have done, I think the kind of episodes we have made, right now we have a bank of 30 episodes, and I think it should be seen by a lot of people. I think it will create a trend, it will be a cult and obviously, aaj kal bohat log filme bana rahe hai, vo log bana ne ki soch rahe hai, they should look at this show, whoever wants to ki kitna amazing kaam kia hai VFX mein, actors ne, styling me everything precision se kaam hua hai. Bohat zyada kaam hua, bohat waqt laga leke kaam kia gaya hai, har cheez pe."

When talking about Mahadev and Parvati, Mohit highlighted their looks and the intricate sets, noting that viewers will probably never have seen a Kailash set. He explained, for the first time, they will get to see how the Kailash set has been designed inside, Parvati has her own Kaksh, Mahadev has his, Kartikey has one, and Ganpati has his own space.
Calling the story beautifully written and one of the most exquisite love stories, he added, "You will see Shiva Gajra lagate huye, Parvati ko Gajra lagate huye dikhenge. Aapko Shiv Khaana banate huye dikhenge, aapko Shiv ek grahst jeeven jeete huye dikhenge, kitchen me dikhenge, at the same time dhyan avasta me bhi dikehenge."
Talking about Parvati, Malik shares, "Parvati, also, you will find her very real. All the mothers will connect to her, I feel, because of the way Parvati has emoted, the way she has emoted with her kids and the kind of relationship she shares with Ganesh and Kartikey. I think it's very relatable."
With its beautiful storytelling, emotional depth, and cinematic visuals, the show aims to connect audiences with the Shiv Parivaar in a way never seen before.
