Fine, I think you are right.

Having both grades and knowledge gets difficult sometimes. 🤔 People with knowledge become over confident (I admit, even I am. Working over it.) and the hardworking cramming geeks don't get good grades even though, they study a lot.

How does having grades and knowledge make things difficult? When you have the knowledge, you tend to get good grades! 😕
And confidence level, depends from person to person.

Nay, what I meant to say was . . that getting them both is difficult.

Yes, it does vary from person to person nut lack of confidence is more in students who are geeky provided, they cannot trust their own minds and are completely dependent on what they have learned. Without that, they cannot attempt even a single question in the exam.

Are you trying to imply that those who get good grades dont have knowledge and vice versa 😕
Grades and knowledge need not be self exclusive unless I want to excuse my bad grades to my having good knowledge LOL

Exams get a lot of flak from people. As a kid, I too hated exams. However, exams are one of the most simplest and convenient means to measure a person's intellect and aptitude. There are so many people in this world, so many students. How do we measure where each person stands? It is not possible to have a one on one session with everyone to see what they really know. Exams are one way of testing and quantifying knowledge on a level playing field.

Unfortunately, in places like India Exams have become predictable and it is not just knowledge but cramming and roting also gets good results. However, as I mentioned if you never assimilated knowledge career will never get really far. In fact many higher masters and PHD degrees focus on knowledge and involve many projects, papers, research etc where roting does not work. That is why many students find it difficult to cope in that environment as they never gave knowledge priority.

Although the practice of "judging" students over exam scores or parents "comparing" their children and adding undue pressure is wrong. Exams should be treated as benchmarks. When you don't do well it is not a sign of failure. It is an indication that something needs to be worked on and made better. We also need to realize not everyone will be great at everything. Each person will excel in different areas.

@TM well for me its knowledge tht matters and nt grades....ive seen in my school dayz tht there were many ppl who gt gr8 grades bt their knowledge abt certain basic things ws minimal...its true tht knowledge ultimately means better grades bt nt always.....i mean in a 3 hrs examination u cnt judge childs wisdom!!!

there are many examples from history where u'l find tht nt evryone who ws knowledgful had gr8 grades...
i feel its the system tht needs to change a bit..m nt saying threre shudnt be exams bt thy shud be in such a way tht overall knowledge of the child is enhanced nt just his mugging up power😆

^^ I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. The problem is the with the system which gradually turned into a permanent mindset of the people.

I guess knowledge but grades are really important too.

Usually if you get the good grades you obviously have the knowledge.. but looking at 3 Idiots.. makes me ponder
