Believe!!!!!

If you believe that Krishna is the Supreme God, then there is no other giver but God. Whatever you are giving Him is nothing but what He gave you in the first place.

If you don't believe that Krishna is the Supreme God, then even going by the Bhagavata Purana, Sudama got riches and rewards accounting for every grain of rice (poha) that he gifted Krishna. Sudama got blessed by none other than the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi. The moral of the story is that if you give Him anything out of pure devotion, He will look after your welfare. If Sudama had given Krishna a gift, expecting something in return, Krishna wouldn't have rewarded that gesture. Sudama didn't and hence he got whatever it is that he got.

My thoughts gone this way,Mister k,just check the sinario, Krishna is the king....he can give anything that time to a poor friend...its significant that sudama comes to Krishna nt for any favor,bt to express his friendship, his lov to him, and even as a poor man he bring a gift for his old friend. Usually a poor person wants to receive something. he rarely gives anything. Here Sudama comes with a gift and not for a gift, he does not go to Krishna's palace as a beggar. And when a poor man gives his gift, his affluence of heart is in comparable.😊

No am just taken the friendship part only between sudama and krishna....am not against anyones beliefs....Sudama knows that Krishna lacks nothing... he is a king...Poor Sudama bringing a gift to Krishna, who is a king, is what makes the event great. But this is love's way.....it does not bother whether you have too much or too little, it goes on giving. Love will never accept that you have too much........I believe Sudama, hesitant not just becos it is a poor gift of rice..... he would have hesitated even if he had rare diamonds....be believe....love does not proclaim its gift..proclamation is the way of the ego..thats why I said Sudama's attitude seems gr8 that time...😊

From what I read, Sudama was forced by his wife to go and meet Krishna and ask for monetary help. The intention to seek help was there; it's just that Sudama never asks for it.

Ya true...he is anxious to bring a gift to him. When he was leaving his home, his wife said, "Your friend happens to be a king, don't forget to bring a substantial gift from him." ....BUT he comes with a gift, and does not ask for anything..... When Sudama meets Krishna he feels very hesitant abt his gift..... he hides the packet of a handful of rice from his friend. thats why i said thats the way of love ....even if it gives a lot it never thinks it is enough......yes its true He is hesitant not just becos it is a poor gift of rice...... he would have hesitated even if he had rare diamonds..........Krishna knws that love always comes to give and not to take...... And he also is aware that the ways of love are shy and secretive....... he asks for his presents over and over again. And ultimately he succeeds in snatching his gift from his old friend...it is love's way😊Thats why I love this part....its very touchy😊

Bt we see it differently, we look at the quantity and not the quality of the gift. We are not aware how difficult it was for a beggar like Sudama to collect a handful of rice....it is not that difficult for Krishna to give away lots of wealth, he is a king. He does not do a special favor to Sudama, he only responds to his friend's gift; and I think Krishna is not satisfied with his own gift to Sudama...In my eyes Sudama shines as a greater friend than Krishna.I did say that Krishna does not make friends or foes, bt it does not mean that he is against friendship. If someone advances the hand of friendship to him.......😊

Ah came across this. Looks like quite a fair bit of behind the scene activities. Sudama was no ordinary soul.

I have given an extract of the relevant portion.

"I will tell you a humorous story of why Sudama became so poor. He was a comrade and a schoolmate of Sri Krishna. They were studying under the Guru Sandipani as students. Among many other students, Sri Krishna, the little boy, and Sudama, another boy, and many others went to the forest for cutting wood. That was the system of ancient Guru seva. Wherever there is a gurukula, the students are supposed to bring holy firewood from the forest for the performance of yajna or havana by the Guru. The wife of Sandipani Guru gave some fried channa to Sudama. She tied it in a bundle and gave it to this boy: "It may be raining; you may be cold and hungry. When you return in the evening, you will find it very difficult, so I will give you a bundle of this fried channa. You can eat it on the way."

It appears that, due to fatigue, these boys and Sri Krishna, also little boy, were all lying down. Sudama felt like eating the channa. He took some and was crunching it; Krishna heard and said, "Oh, you are eating something alone to yourself." "No, I am not eating. My teeth are chattering due to cold," he said. This deceptiveness that he showed to a boy like Krishna made him utterly poor, and he became miserable throughout his life. And he had to come for help from the very same person to whom he did not give a little channa. This is a story in the Puranas".

Sudama is also said to be the human birth taken by the great Saint Narada Muni to enjoy the Leelas that Lor Krishna was enacting on the Earth.

The other version is that Sri krishna as a child asked Sudama whether he would be happy with lot of wealth or lot of children. Sudama considered children as the highest of wealth and Sri Krishna ordained so be it and so was it that Sudama remained poor through out with plenty of children. It came to an end after his visit to Dwarka.

But it is again said that Sudama, the most learned of all Sri Krishna's friend never took or enjoyed the wealth bestowed by the Lord on him but his family did and he went on Samnyas.(penance).

Vision of Krishna
There was an old swami I once met who had a vision of Krishna at the age of 5 and had been blind ever since. He relished the vision and was always in bliss recalling it all the time.

Drona and Bheesma were great souls but their thinking had been clouded due to food taken from unrighteous persons, the Kauravas.
Bheesma on the deathbed explained it all while resting on a bed of arrows.

I always wonder what is it that is most important in life?
Some say values, some say Truth, some say wealth, some say God or the teachings in various texts like the Bhagavad Gita.
I guess Krishna consciousness ranks as one of the most treasured prizes. It is said that most holy nams have 2 sylabbles and have the power to awaken our consciousness.
