Quote:
"Take up the
Sadhana prescribed for winning that blessing; gain the blessing by effort, that is the way. It is not something that is given away. You do not pray to the Sun to make the rays fall on you, do you? Shining is His Nature. He is doing it always. Remove the obstacles between you and the sun and the rays are on you. So too, keeping the obstacles of Delusion, My-ness and I-ness between you and the rays of Grace, what is the use of complaining that they do not fall on you? What can the rays do?

If you seek the rays of Grace, try and remove the obstacles.

Remember, even if you do not strive for it now, you will feel the urge sometime later; you cannot escape that urge. It has to happen some day, this shuffling off the coils of Delusion. Why postpone the day of joy, the day of liberation? Strive for this from this very day, nay, this very minute.

Do not go to extremes; be steady; be patient."

Well obviously we are talking here of the Ego and Attachment getting in the way of gaining liberatioin. Why postpone the day of joy, the day of liberation ? So effort has to be put in now.

The whole yoga meditation series from part 1 to 5 is very interesting.
But each may have their own method, so this is not necessarily the best method. But still some of the things mentioned are worth pondering about.

I recently read a book ... Yuganta by Irawati Karve, she grapples with the complexity of Krishna the man and Krishna the God. She concludes that the deifying of Krishna as a god only happened after the Mahabharata. The story of his naughty childhood, the dalliance with Gopis, ect all could only have been a later addition. During the epic, he was very much human. He is seen more as a close friend and contemporary of Arjuna. Rather than make a bald statement here and invite the wrath of a billion believers, the author refers and infers from myriad sources that reveal not only her scholarship, but also ability to sift through a mountain of information. He was intelligent, just, farsighted and brave, but no God, says the author.

Is does make you think!

Well I guess it is all up to each individual to see whichever way they want. Avatars can never be understood and in those days God would create dramas and stories just like in the Rama era.
Krishna was a Yuga Avatar. His brother Balarama is said to be Lord Narayana's Shesa. There are plenty of stories about his rebirth too.
Not much research or reading needed to experience Krishna, a couple of bhajans or prayers is enough to send us estacy.
The Gopis and Gopikas recognized Krishna's divinity from childhood.
They would find innumerable excuses to visit the house of Nanda so as to get a glimpse of Baby Krishna. It was the tradition then to get the fire from the house of Nanda everyday since Nanda was the village head. At one time one of the Gopis was so engrossed in thoughts of Krishna that she did not realize her hand burning.
Even as a child Krishna peeformed many superhuman feats.

Yes bhajans are the fastest way to experience bliss and love. It also cleanses our minds and souls and turns us Godwards.
Anyway many have realized Krishna as their very being.
The stories of His devotees are also inspiring.

agree with you summer3, bhajans and belief calms us down, Shri Krishna's Vishwaroopa itself is an evidence (not the only one) of the avatar. I remember reading a story as a kid where a little boy who is afraid to cross the woods to reach school is taught by his mother to chant Krishna's name and the boy does and has a vision of krishna being with him everyday, where as the teacher who doesnt believe it doesnt get to see that vision , beautiful story actually.

Yes God works in many ways and we cannot set rules for Him. Acts out of love need no reason.
