I haven't seen the NDTV ramayana but I loved the RS's Ramayana👍🏼......I am sure that it is the better one.........never saw any other religious serial so good as this one..........infact the other serials were made only after the Ramayana was such a big hit........I have even heard that some women used to light agarbattis in front of the TV screen before the serial started.....awww😊.......I remember it was telecast on Sunday mornings in india and the streets were totally empty.........used to look like CURFEW time😆

So agree with you! RS's Ramayan is unparalleled in its uniqueness, originality, devotion, songs, natural acting, everything!😃 LOVE it! Can never get enough of watching it, esp the SiyaRam Vivah epis, Sundar Kand (love Dara Singh as Hanuman), or Luv Kush Kand. Every epi is soooo good.
NDTV Ramayan was ok too, not too bad, but it overdid everything trying to reach out to the younger generation that it did not seem natural, esp the beginning epis. And the tunes for all the songs were copied straight out of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan or Shri Krishna, had no originality in it.

IMO, RS' Ramayan was way over-dramatized. If you guys are saying that it still tops the NDTV version, then I could imagine how bad the latter is.

I think Chopra's Mahabharat was the best show I ever watched possibly in any language and on any TV.

I guess it all depends on perspective. RS's Ramayan was based hugely on Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas more than Valmiki's (whish is more historical in writing while Tulsidas's is devotional). It was like seeing the Ramcharitmanas on TV because it followed it soooo closely. If you reach RCM, you will see that yes, Tulsidas did use a lot of adjectives and Bhakti Rasa in his writing, so RS's Ramayan also seemed like that. For one who prefers seeing the scriptures dramatized on TV in a more historical manner than devotional, they will prefer BRC because he made his shows more historical. I am also a BIG fan of BRC's MB, I love it a lot, but I equally love RS's Ramayan and Shri Krishna because of its sheer devotional songs and the natural acting of the actors. Thanks to Ravindra Jain's music and Ramanand Sagar's directing, it seemed like we were really watching Ramayan as it happened. It did not become popular for no reason after all.
But I respect your opinion.😊 Yeah, if you didn't like RS's ramayan, you will not like NDTV's, because it was even more dramatized than RS's, but even lots of RS fans don't like NDTV's, so I guess you'd have to see it to find out.

^^ Well put! I see where you are coming from.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being knows nothing and 10 being a know-it-all, I put myself around 8 when it comes to our Puranas. With that bhumika (foreword), even if we set aside the "picturizations" (by the way, picturization is not a recognized word in the dictionary?! wow!) for a moment, I never connected with Ramayan as much as I did with Mahabharat. And I "prefer" Krishna over Rama any day. But I guess that discussion is outside the scope of this topic...

Thanks :)
Your preference for Krishna over Rama also probably has something to do with you preferring BRC over RS. I like both incarnations of the Lord equally, as both of their messages are priceless and appropriate for the Yuga they were incarnated in, so I've always loved Ramayan and Mahabharat equally, even the serials. But in terms of accuracy, you know, I think RS did better than BRC because MB had quite a few bloopers in some important scenes, esp during the war episodes and the Krishna Leela ones (esp for the Krishna Leela epis, RS wins hands down...can never get enough of his Krishna Leela serial). BRC tended to tweak some of the scenes in order not to drag it and in the process lost some imp messages, while RS dragged out the epis to get across the message in a way where we would never forget them. Some people prefer BRC over RS because they like the epis to be quick while others prefer RS because they want to know and understand the deeper message in ever event of the Lord's life, and likewise value each and every epi. And for people like me, who love both directors, we just enjoy the scenes as they're taken.😆
Picturization is not in the dictionary? Weird.😳

Gengsta!!! How goes it?

Krishna killed a bunch of "demons and stuff" too. Putna, Sakatasur, Dhenukasur, Trinavart, Vatsasur, Bakasur, Ugrasur, Kans...
