GDP is one way to look at things. When we talk about GDP of India then we dont look at its population, size, etc. Higher GDP means higher influence irrespective of the population or size.

Well, since the location is perfect, Bangalore recieves more IT people(many of who are foreigners), who are good in their field and therefore, produce better technology and other hardware. In short, Banglaore is the Silicon Valley of India. But, despite that, Kolkata has a greater GDP.
