GDP is one way to look at things. When we talk about GDP of India then we dont look at its population, size, etc. Higher GDP means higher influence irrespective of the population or size.

Anyway what is a fair metric according to you for comparison?

Well, since the location is perfect, Bangalore recieves more IT people(many of who are foreigners), who are good in their field and therefore, produce better technology and other hardware. In short, Banglaore is the Silicon Valley of India. But, despite that, Kolkata has a greater GDP.

If you know a better link then provide it to us. Till then we have to assume it to be correct.

Anyway there are 2 points:

Here, I am asking you what could be better metric according to you?

- on why Kolkata has higher GDP? I can attempt it but is GDP an ok metric according to you?
