Heck, I too can't think of any reasons why any one would like to make his/her life a living hell with marrying more than a person (people who have a spouse knows what I mean - maintaining one family is a killing job!). But then again, I have never understood why would people like to have an abortion without a logical reason, get engaged in premarital sex when hat could be harmful to the individual in the long run, practice in sadomasochism and BDSM acts with their partner...but then again, I think we all are different. I may not like or understand the motive behind ones action, but that's no reason for me to stop him do it simply because I do not understand their way of life. 😊

Though, to be honest, I am split when it comes to such relation.

Ack, good point! 👍🏼 Though, I feel this could be the case (and is already happening) in an ordinary marriage as well - man forcing / [emotionally] blackmailing / seducing the woman to get married with him. While on the surface it would seem that the woman is happy and consentient on marrying the man, in reality, her consent is being / has been obtained via duress. So can't be blaming this only on polygamous/polyamorous/polyandrous relation.

Though, as I said to Ashoka (Cloddy) I really am split on this issue, even if I support it.

Thanks a bunch for the corrections. Really appreciated. To be quite honest, I am pretty ignorant when it comes down to this topic. As a liberal, I support any act between consenting adults as long as it does not cause harm to anyone; though I guess I need to study further on this subject, before basing any conclusion. 🤔☺️

consent in monogamous marriage too cud B doubtful but anyway at least the woman has some legal rights . But in a polygamous situation things cud B quite chaotic. To B equally fair & impartial to all ones spouses wud B next to impossible. Women R more commonly liable to B victims in case of any polygamous relationship so I do not think that any woman wud consent for her husband to bring home another wife while she is still alive or married to him!

Strange as it may sound but I do know a few ladies who consented to their husbands marrying a second time. its debatable weather the consent was happily given but it was there all the same. One is the case of the famous dancer Raja raja reddy & his two wives who R sisters. All three R classical dancers & give performances together on stage.
Another case is someone I know personally. The lady could not conceive & her inlaws threatened to send her back to her parents when she or her parents made the offer that the husband shud marry her younger sis. Now the hubby has 2 kids from the second wife but on paper they R the kids of the first wife

You're right, but the women must have the equal legal and social rights when it comes down to the subject of polygamy as well. It is and it will be a mental torture to the women if their husbands are marrying without their actual consent, hence non-consensual polygamy needs to be banned. I know it's hard to imagine seeing the amount of documentaries made, showing the previous wife/wives being ignored and man taking not only another, but hundreds of wives and treating them like plague, but such polygamy is something I am against, and this should be made illegal, too. Why should the women's rights be ignored; both parties need to have proper consent, and the ability to run such a family, before taking such bold steps.

Haven't heard of them, but if they are living happily together, then that's their choice, and they have a complete right over that. Thanks for sharing.

Well, that is non-consensual polygamy; even if the consent was obtained, it was obtained under duress and threats - not something I can support. I know it is difficult, but the women needs to speak up against their oppression on such case, and laws need to be made strict.

^ Yeah, but the elder sister did give her consent, (irrespective of what the situation had been) or was she forced / intentionally emotionally blackmailed?

But meh, maybe I do wish to indulge into this debate anymore.
