As many of you know, the actions of mankind is having a major impact upon the environment. If we do not do something about this now, global warming will wreak havoc upon the earth. I want to start a healthy debate about what should be done (if anything should be done). Please try to refrain yourslf from writing one line answers such as 'I don't give a stuff' or 'action must be taken!'. Please try to explain yourself.

Well there is lots of things that can be done.

First of all make less use of cars and stuff that pollutes air.

Industries pay more attention to cleanliness and help the environment grow.

People don't throw stuff on streets instead if you find some then pick it up and throw in garbage.

Governments could be more strict about it.

Tons of other things can be done. Just common sense!

A very interesting topic.
I think awareness about conservation is important, If we are cutting four trees, plant 8 trees. Then Pollution is the biggest problem in India. I will give u the example of Delhi the level was high here but since a couple of years the level has gone down. The reason much was done to increase awareness, the vehicular pollution was brought down by insisting that auto's use cng and private vehicles comply by Euro norms.
In between there was lot of controversy generated should use of Diesel be banned altogether etc?
Then there is a very bad habit in most Indian cities, the gardner will pile the garbage and then burn it, little realising that it impacts the ozone layer.
We do not have a system of segregation of waste and as such it is a common sight to see huge mounds of waste dumped in the outskirts of the cities. We have brought the dump outside cleaned the cities ok but what about the country side?
We need to tackle these problems which are basic in nature then we can move to the KYOTO PROTOCOL and the international view pt.
