CHAPTER 13
Suhasini stormed into her house. She had noticed that Manohar's car wasn't outside. She was glad he wasn't home at the moment. She didn't want to be bothered.
"Mumma" she heard Jaya call.
"Mumma aaj shaam Vanshika ke yahaan jo gifts le jaana tha woh maine decide kar liya hai. Aap bas dekh leejiye. "She said.
"Jaya, can't you handle such things. " she said raising her voice and then seeing Jaya' s sad face she said "I am sorry. I have a really bad headache. "
"Mumma aap aaram keejiye. Main aapke liye coffee bejti hoon. " Jaya said.
Suhasini smiled " Jaya, I am lucky to have you. Main bas yeh chahti hoon ki iss Adarsh aur Abhay ki patniyon se bhi yeh baat kabhi keh sakoon. Bas yahin chahti hoon main. "
Jaya looked at her surprised. Something was up with her. But before she could ask Suhasini asked " Tumne toh tayaaariyaan kar liya par jiske liye jaa rahe hain woh kahaan hai? "
Jayashook her head.
"Apne donon devar ko phone karo aur jaldi ghar aa jaanejaane ko kaho." Suhasini told her as she left the room.

" Mujhe aur ek plate chahiye. " Swadheenta said trying to stand.
Adarsh stopped her.
"Come on Swadheenta. Ek din ke liye hum sab par dependent hone mein kya problem hai. I will get it for you. " Adarsh said smiling talking her plate from her .
Swadheenta blushed as she saw Asad grinning from ear to ear. Just then Adarsh's phone rang. Adarsh tried to balance the plates in his hand. Seeing this Abhay took the phone from his pocket.
"Bhabhi ka phone hai. " Abhay said.
"Speaker on kar de Chottu. " Adarsh said.
" Accha hua tum donon saath ho. " Jaya said as Abhay spoke to her "Tum donon jaldi ghar aa jaana. Mumma poochh rahi hai aur woh bahot buri mood mein hai. Adarsh tumhe toh baahar jaana hi nahin chahiye tha. Aaj tumhari Vanshika ke ghar jaana hai na humein. "
"Yes Bhabhi. "Abhay muttered looking at his brother who was clearly uncomfortable with the reference.
Adarsh turned to see Swadheenta who looked confused.
"Vanshika kaun hai? " She asked.
"Tumhe nahin pata? Adarsh bhaiyya ki fiancee hai Vanshika. " Simmi told her naively.
Swadheenta was shocked beyond words. Asad was looking at her equally shocked. Adarsh was engaged and he hadn't even told her.
"Tumne kabhi kuch kaha nahin iss baare mein. " she asked Adarsh trying to remain calm and indifferent.
Adarsh looked at her not knowing how to react. She looked a little pale. For the first time in his life he felt unable to look someone in the eye.
"It never came up. " he said looking away.
Abhay was looking at him and Swadheenta worried. A minute or two of awkward silence followed. Simmi and Radhika unaware of the situation had returned with another plate of chaat.
"Swadheenta kya hua? "Adarsh heard Simmi ask her and looked in her direction.
She looked extremely pale and her eyes were filled with tears. Adarsh felt his heart break.
" woh painkillers ka asar khatam ho gaya hai shaayad. Mujhe bahut dard ho raha hai. I wanna go home. " she replied.
"Chalo. Hum tumhe ghar chhod dete hain. " Abhay said.
"No Abhay. Main Simmi ki car mein chali jaaongi. Tum logon ko ghar jaana chahiye. Your mom is waiting. " Swadheenta said sternly.
"Abhay bhai main apne Freedom ka khayal rakh sakta hoon. " asad said in a matching tone as he and Simmi helped Swadheenta into the car.
The trip back home was very difficult for Swadheenta. She was finding it hard to control herself. Simmi and Radhika were engrossed in talking about some new designer. So she didnt have to pretend much. As they reached home she convinced Simmi to return home stating that she herself might fall sick. Radhika too left with her.
Swadheenta entered the house with Asad. Her maami was worried seeingher condition. Asad told her that it was because of the medicines. They walked silently to Maami' s room which Swadheenta was occupying for the day.
"Asad tu jaa. I am alright. Mujhe akela chhod do." She said looking out of the window.
"No. Tu theek nahin hai Freedom. Get it out. "Asad said holding her by the shoulder ammaking her face him.
"I love him Asad. I want him. And he belongs to another woman. " she said and then broke down in Asad's arm.
He held her silently as she cried.

Abhay looked at his brother from time to time. He had never seen him so worried. Adarsh was a very straightforward and truthful man and Abhay knew that the look of betrayal on Swadheenta's face was killing him. He would have to talk to his brother but not at the moment. Adarsh first needed to get a hold on himself.
In the past few days Abhay had learned that things could go terribly wrong in a moment. He had a gut feeling that Adarsh was going to get himself in a situation. He had thought of convincing Adarsh to reconsider his decision to marry Vanshika or atleast to tell Swadheenta about his engagement . But before he could do anything that call had ruined things . But maybe it was destiny. Maybe his brother would never have said anything otherwise
"Thank god, tum log aa gaye. Abhay, yeh gifts wrap karne mein meri help kar doge?" Jaya said as they entered the house.
Adarsh quietly walked ahead.
"Adarsh are you ok ?" Jaya asked worried.
"Headache. "Adarsh said and left the room.
"Mom aur Adarsh donon ko headache? Must be the stresstress. "Jaya said as she and Abhay set to work.
"Mom ko kya hua?" Abhay asked her.
"Headache. Bahot pareshan lag rahi thi. Mood bhi kharaab hai. I just hope ki donon theek ho jaaye" Jaya told him.
"Me too. "Abhay said thoughfully.

Suhasini Sinha stood in her balcony. She loved the place. She felt relaxed and in control there. It was here she always came when somethingwas bothering her. Today too it helped.
She had never interfered in her sons' life. It had never been required before. But today Abhay had made it necessary. She wasn't going to let his foolishness spoil his life.
With Abhay she had time to deal. She was worried about Adarsh. She wasn't sure he was seeing Swadheenta. She was judging what she had seen considering her son's infatuation with Swadheenta years ago . But even then Adarsh hadn't acted on it. He hadn't even kept in touch with the girl. Maybe they were friends. After all both of them wanted to help the oppressed. Maybe she was overreacting.
But if she was right, then it meant serious trouble. The Bundelas weren't going to let go of it easily. After all it was Vanshika'sVanshika' s future. And Adarsh was a man of determination. He wouldn't do what he felt was wrong. In that case she would have to do something.
She had to find out soon.
And experience told her she wouldn't have to wait long. That evening was going to tell her a lot of things.
