now both DAYA and Abhijeet are senior inspectors and at the same rank and should be too!! Daya is younger to Abhijeet ( would be by a few years only). When Abhijeet entered CID,he was shown to be already in the police service i think., but when Daya entered ,he was shown as a freshnew cop in CID.

Now Both have same Ranks... In old Episodes Abhijeet was Senior then Daya..

Both are Sr.Inspectors. But Abhijeet is senior than Daya because in 90s episode DAYA was Sub Inspector and Abhijeet was Inspector from since that time

watching Stolen Dynamite answers this question very well.

In this Daya calls Abhijeet 'sir'. It was a lot later they became friends.

Abhijeet and Daya have equal ranks now but Abhijeet is senior as he is the second in command and leads the team in ACP's absence.
