I recently found this 6 months old interview of Daya sir. He talks about the team planning to come up with a CID movie. I know it's a very old news but what caught my attention is that he said it was supposed to show the post-CID lives of the main trio and they had come up with a nice story. But then the channel decided to bring back the show.

The interview is a damn good watch. I particularly loved his take on the films showing problematic men as heroes.

They really ought to make a CID film with a rock-solid, tightly written script. Look at what Khichdi did: it leapt from TV to web to the big screen, carried by characters everyone already loved. That’s why it worked so well. CID could absolutely pull off the same thing, maybe even better. Khichdi depends on laughs to land; CID on the other hand needs tough whodunits, some clever twists, and the fight sequence, thrill of cracking cases, etc, which honestly opens up way more possibilities for stories.

Also, I really liked his take on Animal. There’s something called moral responsibility, after all. You can’t just glorify violence for no reason. The whole movie didn’t have a single cop, so true.

Ideally, people shouldn’t take lessons from fiction—but they do, they really do. That’s why, as writers and creators, you have to be mindful of what you put out there. It shouldn’t be something that crosses moral lines.

I wish they assemble a good team and make a film in the future. The post-CID life of trio has plenty of scope.

@Bold - True. In a country where violence against women and children is shamefully high with culprits getting away with zilch consequences, it's utterly reprehensible to present certain characters as heroes. Justifying them in real life is worse because violent misogynistic men are indeed taking inspiration from it.

They could also do a spin off show or some cop duo movie focused on Abhijeet and Daya, Riggs and Murtaugh-ish.

In the present time, CID Movie will be a huge risk.

CID Movie would have been a Hit if they had made before 2011.

It would have been an Above Average Grosser Movie if they had made it between 2011 to 2015.

It would have been an Average Grosser if the Movie was made between 2016 to 2019.

Speaking about Animal Movie, I personally likes Action Movies. I didn't watched Animal, as I hate to watch Movies with huge violence. Violence will be necessary for the story. Earlier times, also there was violence in the Movies. But that was for the Story (with some Movies are esceptional). Even in some rare episodes of CID, violence was shown. (One episode is the murder of a junior lady CID Officer)

But now a days, majority of the action movies are produced to show the violence, with no proper story, and the fans for this types of Movies are arguing that it is the so called character development.

I don't think they were planning a theatrical release. OTT is a far better fit for CID.
