Time and Time again, we find that both Avinash and Rubina have not gotten the accolades they so deserve in terms of awards; just because the PH and Zee do not think about promoting them...

But they both deserve a "standing ovation" for taking the characters of Dev and Radhika and breathing life into them with their subtle, yet powerful performances...

There are many scenes that I have loved in CB2--my favorite with Rubina is the chunari scene, the time when she finds out that her marriage is fixed to Rohan and not Dev...the play of emotions on her face was just mind-blowing--again as you have said earlier, no words were necessary...just her expressions did all the talking...

I also love the subtlety they bring to romance--especially in romantic song picturization..These songs for ever are now etched in my mind as Dev an Radhika / Avinash and Rubina..The most recent one--Paigam laya sawan--belongs completely to them...

I truly hope--that there talent is one day recognized and they get opportunities beyond the world of daily soaps

Radhika, thanks for reminding me about romantic scenes. One of the best romantic scene between them was in that farmer's cottage. First there was that rain song where Radhika was shown to dance with abandon in the rain (Dev's dream). Both Rubina's dance and expressions as well as Dev's happy expressions were excellent. Then there was that night scene in the cottage. He barely touched her and yet that romantic scene was outstanding because of their expressions. Rubina's expressions suddenly showed her thoughts veering to a certain direction and she blushing because of that, Dev suddenly became passionate once he understood her thoughts and saw her blushing face and then him almost getting close to her and then withdrawing with regret. Then her confusion at him pulling away from her but understanding his point of view. That was very beautifully done by both of them. Suddenly one could feel that these spiritual lovers also desire each other physically and are impatient at waiting to get close.

Yes like any good actor his face is the canvas on which all the expressions appear and the audience can form and image and understand what the character is thinking ...and the magic in their chemistry is for all to see.

Wonderful thread, Misti ... very beautifully written - you have captured a lot of the moments that i liked and a lot of the reasons why I really love the leads of this show and why they will always hold a special place in my heart. I have briefly watched a lot of other shows in the past 20 years and this is the first time that i have felt strongly enough about leads to watch a show just for them. A lot of the scenes that you described are also my favorites.

I'll start with Avinash ... he grabs your attention when he comes on the screen. It is a combination of his voice, looks, demeanour, smile, and overall personality. I think I have said it before - I would say that he has the "X factor" that makes him stand out . Love his voice and dialogue delivery - and he has the most expressive eyes in the industry. He has the capability to play a little boy (still remember the scene from Cb1 where he put his head on dadima's lap bcos he thought rads was too busy to be with him) and go full fledged into a difficult role like abhay's or a complex role like Dev's from Cb2. He also looks every inch the Rajpurohit and can easily carry off roles that require personalities that are larger than life. It is interesting how with very few dialogues he manages to tell a story. Imagine how much more powerful he would be if he had good dialogues to match.

As far as Rubina is concerned, I absolutely love the actress that she has become. She is extremely beautiful and like Avinash, has very expressive eyes. While I thought she was good in Cb1, she has absolutely excelled in Cb2. In Cb1 her soft innocent looks managed to hook me in the first part of the show ... but i was very impressed with how she played imerti. The contrast between rads and imerti was so vast that it was hard to believe that the same girl was playing both of them. In Cb2, she has done a wonderful job of emoting her pain and also her joy at the smallest of things.

Individually both are fabulous and together, they are dynamite ... the only comment i would make on their chemistry is that when i listen to or watch love songs, i think of them in those songs. Anyone wanting to see their chemistry in action has only to watch the episodes from 2 to 3 weeks back.

I would also love to see both of them in Bollywood ... in addition to talent both of them have the glamour and looks required to make it there. I would love for them to play more youth oriented roles. There is no reason why they could not have more fans on the forum - if only more people were not turned off from the show.

I really really hope they both get what they want - love the couple.

As far as the show is concerned, I truly think both Zee and DJs are very lucky to have them ... they would be stupid not to capitalize on the immense adoration that people have for both Avinash and Rubina

Misti,

Enjoyed reading your thoughts about the leads of CB2. Many of us are here to see the show, analyse and feel all the emotions they are conveying. Sometimes without dialogues they have been able to do so much justice in conveying their feelings effectively that we laugh with them when Avinash as Dev proposes with the varmala to radhika, dream with them as they talk of their future, cry with them when they feel betrayed by their near and dear ones, get angry with them when they choose their own ways and are adamant about doing the things they want to do or feel sorry for them when they are helpless as in the ghat scene when Radhika cries and then lets go of Dev for her to pursue her dharm and for him to follow his kartavya.

Their style of working with their co-actors has been exemplary. They are extremely good at sharing screen space and have great chemistry with everyone and that in itself makes the viewing even better.

One scene of Avinash which stood out for me was his introduction post leap in the PB family. He had ahalf-hearted smile, just nodding his head and going about doing his things. He conveyed the message instantly that he was loner there, a rare kind of thing to portray. It followed up with the hobbies of his which further conveyed that he cultivated all those things to show he was loner.
This appealed tome most because I know I am his fan as he has shown a various range of emotions already and this one was something different and yet effective.

For Rubina there were some wonderful scenes especially in the Mansa house hold which stole the show of may episodes. Here again there was one scene where she complains to Kanha that she is attracted to someother guy instead of her KK and is angry with Kanha for creating this confusion. To communicate or express without dialogues with humans who are at equal standing is normal but her when she talks to God the feeling of closeness was excellently done.

I do hope their talents get recognised and God bless them with great success in their career.

Misti your post is really wonderful , i also watched this show somewhere in April 09, while was getting bore and surfing through the channel , should not lie it was DJ,s name first that was enough for me to find out what it was all about , It was Radhika,s innocence and her unconditional love for everyone in her life , soft-spoken , and more over she reminded me of someone near to me , hooked me this show ...Then i watched the show from the starting , there was something there , Dev with his boyish, charm, innocence intact ...Rubina looked ethereal , so beautiful when Dev takes her to his home for RP puja and stops her and put mangalsutra around her neck, that time her expressions were so beautiful , then her Vat Puja and Dev suddenly appears beside her and his taunting at the same time laughing ...
For me they both from B& W era where innocence and simplicity was there ,I agree with Rajsri , for me they both fitted in the old time values and could very well imagine them in old era songs ...They both were best , i could not imagine anyone in the current lot in their place ...In the recent one when she comes to know Dev is her KK and was standing there looking at him while he was playing flute , her child-like happiness and then goes to temple sings and dance it appeared as if was floating in the air again looks ethereal, her expressions ,as if in her own world Dev mesmerized standing ...Just because them hooked to this show ,,,,Avinash has matured as an actor , but still has child-like innocence and same goes with Rubina ...I agree with everyone they both have breathed life in to Dev Radhika,s characters ...Their pain hurts you and their happiness makes you smile ...
