Now when I glance at other leads in a romantic scene I don't find any chemistry between them. And that's where I start missing Avina & I get the feeling that Avina are the only actors who can portray any type of scene flawlessly.

Thanks fatssrilanka...I think that you are not the only one who has felt like this...

Misti,beautiful post dear!
When i saw the first scene of cb1 when dev met radh and took the camera of his face and revealed his smiling eyes and then showed a scared radh on the grownd with her angel like face...smth told me you have to watch this story...their eyes expressed so mu
ch that i couldn help myself just to watch them...no words...There were many scenes that i enjoyed their bodylanguage and eye talk but the best one is The hug in the rain when dev knew radh is his DG...His tears, the way he raised his voice and how he used diferent tones to emphase the meaning of the words were brea thtakingly...She was just standin there suffering...again ruby used her posture and facial expressions,no need 4 words! In cb2 i knt even choose a scene ,maybe then when she went from happy to terrified when rohan aproched with that veil and not dev... Some were born with talent and avina are two of those people...they use silence instead of words...they have subtle romance and not showing of...They put soul into acting and become one with the character...they are AVINA

Neerja in CB2 Devs role is much more complex than the one in CB1...so his scope for emoting is much more here. Radhika onthe other hand is a pretty straight forward character. Both are very good in using silence as a means of putting their thoughts to the viewers...The scene that you are talking about regarding Radhika being lifeless and being dragged by Rohan, Rubina was brilliant there...she actually looked like a rag doll and one could feel her life going out of her. On friday also she was very good ...again her being distraught and her silence...were very good.

I like how you described the protagonists, Misti! I was attracted to both CB1 and CB2 film, the story which can be lifelike, but is based on the legend of Kanha and Radha. Randomly throughout the movie are so well directed and so well played by actors, that you think they live with the intensity of emotions, and acts as if it would run in front of you and you participate yourself to action. What attracts me, is the story of two lovers repeated, Dev and Radhika, but still new, in our times, with the special colors that delight the eye, traditions and rituals seen during the action.
I find particularly wonderful couple, indestructible, which is the backbone of all actions, Rubin and Avinash. Outstanding players that transmit only through gestures (touching their soft, platonic, mild inclination of the head as a sign of mutual understanding), the entire facial gestures (eyes piercing, vivid, gentle, inoccenti, tears of sadness or happiness dewy; rustle eyelids as a sign of embarrassment or gratitude, warm smile, bright, sad or angry grimace), bold voices of strong emotions, and so mastered line only when transmitted happiness in their hearts.Scenes performed by the two lovers Dev and Radhika, supplemented by line or vertiginous music that is heard in the background, giving a romantic or dramatic charms of sequences in the film.
Without great game of this remarcable couple, Rubina and Dev, giving perfection all actions, the film would be tarnished Choti Bahu beauty and grandeur ..

Misti, thank you for starting this thread. I completely agree with you about the acting skills of Avinash and Rubina. Also, you have quoted scenes that stood out for me too.

I started watching parts of CB1 around the time in April 2009 when Dev was appointed RP. I think probably that was the scene that was very striking to me as he looked happy for Arjun before the tilak, bewildered and confused when his father put it on him, then looked betrayed and angry while he was being hoisted on shoulders of supporters and taken around the temple. As you said, he has amazing screen presence and that scene was very intriguing while Radhika was looking at him in confusion and amazement.

I didn't watch anymore episodes until I saw the funeral scene where he broke down in front of Radhika. It was after that I became very curious and started watching it on and off.

Rubina to me seemed more talented in the beginning than Avinash because probably she was doing that difficult role. Her look of this simple beauty with very little makeup stood out for me because before that I had always seen all the female leads decked up in heavy jewelry and heavy sarees as well as heavy makeup regardless of their social status in the story.

I started thinking of Avinash as a talented actor from that Haridwar episode onwards where he looked hurt and betrayed that a girl whom he had loved so intensely was the one who had deceived him so badly. Then I searched on internet and watched as many back episodes as I could find and I was addicted to the show based on Dev and Radhika's characters that came alive because of Avinash and Rubina.

By the end of the show, both Avinash and Rubina came across as talented with Avinash ahead of Rubina as he had a wider range and his voice modulation is very good.

But Rubina has impressed me immensely with her acting skills in CB2. As much as I disliked Friday's episode, Rubina is the one who stood out for me in her scenes. Her broken act and her helplessness were so evident.

As you said, serious intense roles suit Avinash the best and he is good at playing the roles where he shows dry wit. He is also great in romantic roles. Besides the scenes you mentioned, I liked him in Thursday's show especially when he regained consciousness. That defeated, broken expression where he realized that Radhika is at a mercy of a psychopath and he couldn't do a thing to help her was so nice. I just wish they had spent more camera time on him.

I also liked him in that confrontation scene with Rohan or when he was sarcastic with Rohan. I do hope that they give him good scenes in the Mahaepisode because that is supposed to be Dev's day. So I hope they don't short change his role.

I liked Rubina in the chunri scene and also in the temple scene where she looked with dismay, disbelief and hurt at Kanha when Dev did not agree with the child marriage, dashed her hopes so badly and walked out on her. Among all the tracks, her best had been in last one month when she had been alone with Dev (that lifeless look when Dev got shot first time or dead expression on Friday when she was forced to return without Dev). But I did like her burning look when Dev touched her on the shoulder. That look would be enough to freeze anybody. And Dev responded with a sheepish look that he had crossed a certain boundry with this girl.

Agree that her voice modulation was the weakest point for her. She was shrill in Goa scenes in CB1 when she was expressing excitment. But there has been tremendous improvement in that area. I don't remember any scene in CB2 where she sounded shrill. Her voice suits the character of Radhika. One can easily believe that this girl would have a sweet singing voice.

In future, I would like to see her in comedy roles as she was very good as Imarti. In fact, if she ever again is given a chance to act with Avinash in future, it would be fun to see him as his serious reserved person and Rubina as his partner who lightens him up. So I would like to see them together in a comedy.

Hoping to see them again in good roles in future in either movies or other better TV soaps. I will definitely watch the show that stars these together or separate.

Thanks Seema...good to see you back in the forum.
Yes its these two talented yound actors which suddenly got my eyes moving...i am not a serial type and never followed anything like this before...But it was Avi first that made be think abt the show and then searched more for it till i landed here.
Yes me too, I don't have the patience to watch any serial and usually quickly lose my interest but there was something about the leads in CB1 that kept me returning to see what happens to the characters.
Avi is sheer talent though i feel he was never given much scope to show his full potential since it was always female lead show but this show has uniqueness that female lead is always surrounded by male lead which Avi fully justify given any situation. I like him in any avtaar but my most fav. is his silent sadness and silent anger. His whole face attractive and oozes some kind of fresh boyishness but his eyes twinkle is somethink i like very much. Eyes with spark are captive and very expressive. By watching his eyes only one can judge which kind of emotion he is going thru. ans yes Voice modulation and quality is perfect too. Voice of extreme despair and then anger in CB1 hug scene (my most fav.) and in Cb2 more than his voice its always his face that spke volumes (doesnt remmber much).
Infact he has perfect everything just need a Mr. Perfect role😃 Avi as lover boy Dev in CB1, as angry young man abhay and now a normal simple boy Dev to responsible man Dev has given us so many differnt shades of acting and everytime he outdoes himslef is marvelous. I just wish whatever he takes up in future that thing justifies his talent fully.
Avinash is sheer raw talent and one cannot ignore him when he is on the screen and for me it is his emotive eyes combined with the right expressions and voice modulation that works everytime...
ahha Ruby- more than her acting prowess its her face that comes in front of my eyes whenever i think abt her though wont lie when i saw her first i felt avi is much smarter than this girl both acingwise n lookwise but when i observed keenly i found her different almost angelic (and i think now i love/like her more😃😳😉) she is no doubt abetter actor now than she was initially but it was always her innocent face - round everything :) that steals limelight for me. Her soft and simple way to deliver dialouges is unique with confidence and ease. Although i love her simplicity and subtleness as radhika, i wonder if she can play some otther loud charcaters. we seen her portraying carefree bubbly girl in Imarti which we all liked but something more modern and bit grey shdes kind of roles??? Would love to see her more in carefree roles. For Cb2 i wanted something Rubi to play Radhika with differnt shades but Cv made this Radhika similar/part for radhika1.
For Rubi also i wish she get more challenging roles and better platform to showcase her talent which is quantum i am sure...and already proven.
Rubi is all about innocence and simplicity...it isthat innocence that hooked me to Radhika in CB1. I also would like her to go for some grey shades in the future (as in future role)...I want to her challenge herself when it comes to acting...also would like to see her in comedy. As Imarti she did show that she has the comic timing but that role was just for 2 weeks so would like to see her in a full fledged light hearted humours role.
These 2 are truly the KING n QUEEN of emotion in present TV land. Wud not like to say who is better actor now as they both complements each other and wins for me everytime they come on screen
I don't want to go into who is better than whom, both are very good in what they do and as I have said before I their partnership...they do compliment each other and they do act in perfect harmony.

Thanks Misti for this wonderful post----and you have so well expressed why Avinash and Rubina are such excellent actors...

Time and Time again, we find that both Avinash and Rubina have not gotten the accolades they so deserve in terms of awards; just because the PH and Zee do not think about promoting them...

But they both deserve a "standing ovation" for taking the characters of Dev and Radhika and breathing life into them with their subtle, yet powerful performances...

There are many scenes that I have loved in CB2--my favorite with Rubina is the chunari scene, the time when she finds out that her marriage is fixed to Rohan and not Dev...the play of emotions on her face was just mind-blowing--again as you have said earlier, no words were necessary...just her expressions did all the talking...

I also love the subtlety they bring to romance--especially in romantic song picturization..These songs for ever are now etched in my mind as Dev an Radhika / Avinash and Rubina..The most recent one--Paigam laya sawan--belongs completely to them...

I truly hope--that there talent is one day recognized and they get opportunities beyond the world of daily soaps
