I was wondering... Why do these "Armed Forces" shows have to keep showing Pakistan in negative light? And the terrorists they show are invariably Islamic Militants.... Why cant they show other forms of terrorism like the terrorism in the North East.... The ULFA militants and all who are equally dangerous...or even the LTTE problem in the South...

Ofcourse... In these cases you wont have emotional speeches on "Religion" and blah blah and how some people are spoiling the name of a particular religion..... But its terrorism none the less.... Its high time we had storylines on India's Internal disturbances rather than showing our neighbours as the "Villains" and India as the "Innocent Victim" .....

Theres a limit to Jingiosm... Dont u think so..?? 😉

I dont think they are showing Pakistan in a bad light
even when abhi was talking about jihad and terrorism he said coz of a few people the whole nation gets blamed..we always wanted nice relations with pakistan...

and i think we have more problem with those kind of terrorists than the ones from ULFA or LTTE....

True.
I think it's chosen as an easy to deal with backdrop. As it is, most of the tv shows and movies nowadays have to do with Punjab or north India. It is just easier to deal with I guess. If they had to make a point about India's issues, they'd have chosen something normally overlooked instead of underscoring the obvious...b/c that's the power media has and should use it constructively. But I think as Iqbal keeps saying, it's not really a different show in that sense. It's aim is not making a point about terrorism, but using it as a tool to tell another story.

Well they just showed the Pak army in a cross border fire... So Pak gets porptryed as the "Enemy" ....
Thats downright cliched with Sunny Deol having made enough movies on it.....

Btw...Naxalism, Militancy in the North East etc... are equally threatening...

True sunshine... This backdrop was an easy one to deal with.... No background research needed... Pin the blame on someone else... very easy

yes i agree..i come from the south..and i know what kind of havoc naxals create..
but i guess this a show..like any other...and their main aim..isnt showing terrorism or ways to combat it..its a back drop to show something else..another story..

but i still feel they dint show pakistan in a bad light...coz they keep on saying a certain section of ppl..and this mission was across the border...may be in the coming missions they will have stuff in the country 😊

I think the best option would be to write to the production team.

We have umpteenth topics on this, and all it does is to create fight among members. Though right now I will not close this topic, but please see to it that it does not get personal.

Thanks

^^It never got personal on any PERSON. It's mere discussion about the show and ideas behind it. I would think one should be allowed to express their concerns esp since it is about a real issue and not about anything private to anyone.

You have a point. I think they are on to something with the desh drohi angle. Agree with my_sunshine86, it looks like the armed forces is just a backdrop and the show will focus on the personal aspect of the officers' life, more or less now. Let's see. Even the cast admitted that the show will have some typical serial masala.

i think they handled the terrorist situation very well. but you're right, what matters is how the audience will take it. and for most, the situation will be simplified to as swordfish mentioned it.

so it's all fair, they should also portray terrorists from within the country...to show that terrorism has little to do with a religious, ethnic, or national identity...it has to do with the views and actions of the group.
