White and black are 2 extremes of the spectrum of grey and a lot depends on our point of view also.. Inevitably most people here would see things from CC's POV for more than one reason (personal experiences + sanaya's portraying CC). It would be extremely difficult to see UB's POV coz i really dont think any of us would ever ve been a remotely similar situation..

And yes, the CVs can bring out whole past in one go for obvious reasons. They ve managed to maintain a suspense in a saas bahu drama and remain unpredictable.. Over time hopefully it will come out in a rational way, or atleast rational enough for Indian television..

P.S.:Wat if UB was responsible for the fight b/w mathilal n his brother.. Just speculating..

The characterization and inconsistent use of dramatization has botched how we, the audience, perceive the characters and that is where I think the problems fester. Lately as I have been watching, solely for Sanaya and the dialogue writers, I have noticed all of the old episodes have zero bearing on the actions characters takes in that day's episode. What was the point of ChhanChhan helping Purvi or Umaben going to the hospital? If there is a backstory the makers better jump on it quick.

Agree on the extremes part. My gripe has been about how UB has been characterized. It seems shallow. Her depiction of an egoistic character is spot on but one is left wondering why. I am sure if the powers that be decry, we will *get* why she is who she is in one epi. But will they? :) I have seen a fair share of elders in my family who stick to their way of life and impose it on us too. With them I can see where they come from. Why they hold on to their beliefs so much. With UB, I fail to see that. If it suits her, she changes the rules. If it serves an end, she does not hesitate about the means used. For someone claiming to be traditional and conservative, the institution of marriage is treated so lightly as if it were a commodity to be bartered. I am fine one way or another just be clear if she is black or grey.

True its still very confusing.. I'm also hoping they justify her behaviour in some way.. A certain amount of it can be attributed to the rigidity of opinion elderly usually maintain.. (Dadaji was refreshing in that regard)..
Wat's even more confusing is that she wants to replace CC with Sonali who is definitely not a village simpleton like the elder bahus.. She's quite modern if i'm not mistaken.. How does that serve..
Or does UB have some other agenda behind all the "keeping family together " drama..

I'd say give it a little more time. Yesterday was the first time, apart form that small scene where we learned that UB saved her family from financial ruin that UB has been portrayed as anything other than a selfish and egotistical person who wasn't beyond hurting her own son to get her own way. I think that there is a back story and probably has to do with some modern thinking perhaps from her BIL and SIL once the MIL passed away that led to a break in the family but I don't think it will come out straight away, it's something Cc will have to help UB overcome. A back story would be logical but my main concern is that UB not slip back into that darkest grey bordering on black spectrum that she had fallen into.If there is no back story it could simply be a belief that she was brought up with and that was reinforced in her married life and that she chooses not to question. When it comes to grey I'd like to see CC make mistakes too and not be 100% right - the show should find a balance in finding good in both traditional and modern thinking.

Yesterday's epi we got clear pic of UB what she has gone through and she did everything to save her family.I did not understand UB why she want CC and manav to live seperately in the old house what she will gain in that? What is her plan by seperating them from the family.?

Absolutely Puglet! You hit the nail on the head. The initial epis seem to have no bearing on how the characters act now.

Absolutely! I want the CVs to humanize both characters and make them believable. Nayi Soch does not mean demeaning all that is old and traditional. The balance happens when both sides meet halfway. Thankfully they seem to have cut down on the sermonizing and glorifying whatever CC did in each epi. :)

That's the thing. I want a back story to why UB is so paranoid about her place in the house. Why she feels a person with independent thinking will usurp her place. What is the basis of her fears. I know the story initially referred to something about how matilal and his brother/siblings were embroiled in a property dispute and how mukut had to be brought back home by underhanded means. But those were just hints and did nothing to show why UB is who she is.

CC is vanilla. She has had a good upbringing. Knows her mind and follows her heart. Her actions, I can understand. It is UB that has me puzzled.

its just the way UB is brought up and CC s brought up dear,
Its kind of a generation gap both r right but both r wrong too 😆
cC is not a typical hero villain concept you cant name anybody like that may be because of that hazzeled approach eople r not able appreciate the same .
Cc is not trying change anything its just a new thinking , but UB sees a threat in CC hence she is panickying 😆

haha I feel we as an audience r more cliched and r Not open up to the experiment
Why a back story is required why cant i be stuborn and say that new thinking is hazadrous to my family. See UB says she understands that even Cc loves and cares for manav lol
It took so much time for UB to realize that cc being modern will still put family and manav above he self ,
