I wonder if Dadaji banished Chhan Chhan outside the house because he wants to see what she is made of?
He loves his family in his own way. And maybe he wants to see what she will do, and how will she behave when faced with adversity? Is this a test of her character? Because we know, if a man who has been carrying his dead wife's ashes with him for eons, cannot be that bad, eh?
Of course, it might take him a while (or not) to accept CC, but I can forsee them being the best of pals.
