Disagree a little with you here. I think the character is actually better than what most ML's get to play in saas-bahu dramas. He's been shown to be happy go lucky but he's smart/manipulative too...whereas most ML in these shows are the silent type to stand quietly behind Mom and wife. He's had more or less equal screen time to Sanaya (sometimes it feels like way more) and at present the impact of the character is the same as CC - the shades of both characters are being brought out slowly and will come out as the story develops. I'm a huge Sanayahilic and I love CC but honestly apart from the dowry sequence CC hasn't really had anything hugely impactful to do either. I think the character is fine in the context of the show. The fact that currently the story hinges on Manav's reaction to UB's drama I'd say he has a pretty central and well defined role which hopefully will improve as the show continues.

I believe good actors rise above the script and give substance to their character like Sanaya did with her previous role. She was not always given author backed scenes, but she rose above it to make an impact. That's talent. While everyone can't do that, good actors can at least make the scene look somewhat convincing.

Also, as @TVshowfan has said Manav till now was a pampared and very happy-go-lucky kind of guy. This is the first jolt he got, his character should grow from now. Let's see where they take this. With a good actor, the same scenes would have left a better impression.

agree now a lot of things will depend on how the creatives kneads the actor to be honest.

yap agreed but at the same time this is the demand of the new generations... there are shows where the main lead stands behind and the show is immensly successful but i guess the audience of CC is different unless they show modern chap which they are trying to show but failing...lets see what future holds.
