Heyy Appy Di 🤗
I agree that the characterization of Manav has nothing interesting or challenging to offer to an actor.
Well, i was unimpressed with the characterization in the first week itself; majorly coz the writing in manav's scenes was irresponsible and weak to begin with. In their attempt to make him look "cool", the character came across as juvenile and irresponsible. It looked like the makers/cvs were confused with what was to be done with the character. Manav kept oscillating between a today's generation fun-loving kinda guy who makes a place for himself in CC's heart, to a male side kick to the two women in action. The show is rushed and as a result the screenplay did not do much for "Manav" either as far as exposure and exploration of his feelings are concerned. Add to all that an incompetent actor portraying the role who at times misses getting even basic expressions right!
As a result of all these, manav today is reduced to a seemingly uninspiring character that at times even appears dumb. The last few episodes have had fairly decent scenes for the character as far as writing was concerned, but the actor again missed it.
I firmly believe that average writing can be compensated to an extent if the actors can pull of the scenes fairly well-but here the show has NO help from the actor, who is the last hope when the script falls apart.
So IMO the weakness is due to combination of all these factors. Even if the makers get lucky and get a fairly decent actor as a replacement for FK, I don't see any improvement to "manav" as such if the screenplay is not worked on. Manav is after all the link between CC and UB, there is no way denying the inherent importance of this character to the script.
