For weeks now the news that has dominated headlines has been about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Padmavati'. Although unconfirmed, it was thought that the filmmaker had roped in Ranveer Singh as one of two male leads once again, after two previous successes with the actor. However, a recent report suggests that Bhansali has had to approach Shah Rukh Khan due to Singh having opted out of the project.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Singh wasn't keen on doing such a role at this point in his career - specifically because he's had so much praise for his role in Bhansali's last offering, Bajirao Mastani' (2015). Bhansali has therefore brought in Khan for the role who loved the script and has apparently already given a look test for the film.

There have also been reports that Shahid Kapoor would be seen as the other male lead, effectively playing husband to Deepika Padukone.

None of this casting news has yet been confirmed but one hopes that there will be an announcement in due course to stop the speculation.
