To all CC members,

No one has anything to say about Barun's comeback vehicle?😲

😳

Is it the weekly show? Honestly I wish Barun well and hope it works out but it was never him that kept me interested in IPK. It was Sanaya and their chemistry and just the way the story was told - the entire package so if he can do the same with SJ as he did SI good for him!

Too bad the movie career didn't work out. 😛

ditto - I will just wish him luck. I am not sure if I can ever be his fan😕 Sorry but to me I look at the personal attributes with substantial brain then the pretty face to be the fan of that person.

Sush I apologize if I was rude. I'm not sure what you meant by trying to avoid war is counterproductive to achieving peace. There times when people need to go to War but it just be the last resort in my view when all else has failed.

Gee...thanks for that very Sumansque apology Red! 😊

I don't think I want to go through another round of explaining what I said...Looks like everything we are talking about some how turns into Bernie vs Hillary debate...This is not helping...

Let's agree to have no more Bernie vs Hillary discussion or anything related ...I am sure we will have plenty of other things to talk about...

I like Barun...and would be interested to see his comeback...but Gorky...I am not sure...Humsafars didn't work for me in a lot of ways...ML characterization was the top is what didn't work...I hope this time it is better...

Who is SJ???

The Men's Underwear Index: an economic indicator

By Kai Ryssdal

Listen to this stor
Men shopping for more underwear may signal the economy's recovery, according to Alan Greenspan. - Tim Boyle/Getty Images

We talk a lot about different kinds of economic measurements at Marketplace, including CPI, the Consumer Price Index, and GDP, the Gross Domestic Product. But there's another measurement you may not of heard of: MUI, the Men's Underwear Index.

Although it's not measured by the government, it is championed by Alan Greenspan, the former chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve. The idea is that men only buy underwear when they feel pretty good about the economy and that when they start buying, it means the beginning of an economic recovery.

Quartz reports that the sale of boxers, briefs and boxer briefs is up $1.1 billion since 2009, which means maybe the economy is doing better than we thought.

grumpydwarf and Sush,

Not getting into the war discussion and Sanders vs Hillary for obvious reasons. Though I have very strong opinions about these !! 😉

Bhavi,

I thought I had the least patience for desi serials. But I think you beat me to it. I am still watching EDKV 😛

Where is Shwetha ? Long time since I saw any posts here

Chicksoup, I started watching EDKV after your recommendation. Enjoying it as of now. About Barun - I think he was perfect as ASR. Not sure about his versatility though. Let us know how it goes. Anyway cannot spare more time for serials !!

Anyone read "Girl in the train" ? Am reading it now. Bought it looking at very high ratings. But the initial 30 pages are quite slow. Hope it picks up

@Everyone I apologize to if I come across too strong!

P.S. I had no idea this happened yesterday!!

Obama commutes 61 prison sentences

(CNN)President Barack Obama commuted the prison sentences of 61 people who were serving time for drug offenses, the White House announced Wednesday, furthering his push to reform what he sees as overzealous sentencing laws.

To highlight his efforts, Obama spent an hour Wednesday afternoon having lunch with former prisoners whose time behind bars had been shortened.
"By exercising these presidential powers, I have the chance to show people what a second chance can look like," Obama said after his meal.
He was joined by three people whose sentences he had commuted, along with four others whose terms were reduced by Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
In his short remarks, Obama singled out Phillip Emmert, who served fourteen years in federal prison after being handed a 27-year sentence for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.
"This is an example of what we mean when we talk about second chances," Obama said.
Emmert said Obama's presence at lunch was a surprise -- one that touched him.
"I told President Obama today that you never want to underestimate the power of one act of kindness," Emmert said in an interview. "It changes people's lives. When they see that people really do care about them, care about their future, care that they want to see them as a success, it changes people's lives, especially people as powerful as President Obama."

More than one-third of the 61 individuals who had their sentences commuted Wednesday were serving life sentences, according to White House Counsel Neil Eggleston. Obama has now commuted the sentences of 248 individuals, more than the past six presidents combined, according to the White House.
After his lunch, Obama said listening to former prisoners "reminded me of how out of proportion and counterproductive so much of our sentencing when it comes to our drug laws are, both at the federal level and the state level."
One of his dining companions, Ramona Brant, was only released from prison last month. In December, Obama commuted Brant's 1994 life sentence for conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine.
"If you wanted to sentence me because I was in a relationship with someone who dealt drugs, and I knew about it, that I was present -- OK, I am guilty of those things," Brant said in an interview after the meeting. "A life sentence is not warranted for the minor role that I played in this conspiracy."
"It takes someone with compassion like the President to see the injustice and right the right that committed to so many of us," she said. "And there are so many more that are in the prison system -- we want to reach back and pull them out."
Brittany K. Byrd, who has represented clients who had their sentences commuted by Obama in the past, said Wednesday's announcement is a sign Obama "is committed to restoring the sense of fairness at the heart of our justice system."
"I am hopeful the President will continue to mercifully grant clemency to the hundreds of others who deserve relief, like Corey Jacobs, who is serving his 16th year of a life sentence as a first-time non-violent drug offender," Byrd said in a statement. "Life in federal prison is a fundamental death sentence. Requiring hundreds of people like Corey Jacobs to die in prison for non-violent drug offenses is an utter waste of human life and taxpayer dollars."

She continued, "Progress was made today, but there is definitely a lot more work to do."
On Tuesday, Obama spoke at the National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta, moderated by CNN's Sanjay Gupta.
Obama said he wasn't sure what it was that tipped his life away from addiction. "I wasn't always as responsible as I am today. In many ways I was lucky, because for whatever reason addiction didn't get it's claws on me ... except cigarettes," he said.
"Regardless how individuals get into these situations, we don't know everything. There may be genetic components. Addictions may be different for different people," he said.
"What we do know is there are steps that can be taken to get through addiction and get to the other side, and that is under-resourced."

grumpydwarf,

It is a debatable subject according to me - the sentencing itself and the way it was commuted for some. Interestingly I was watching Bluebloods episode about broken windows policing. Again very difficult to say which side is right. And what is the right balance.

Sush, That was an informative article on men's shopping choices and economy.😆

Couldn't help but notice...
'Sumansque'- 😆 Yeah, I guess thats how Suman'd do it...but that'll all be that Suman expects too, when the roles are reversed.😉

On Barun's show- I am actually feeling bad for Barun here. I hope this is not the second worst career move he made. I happen to genuinely like the guy even if I am not a fan. This PH's recent shows have been downright disappointing, SJ- Surbhi Jyoti- the QH FL- couldn't sustain the show twice- once after KSG's exit, and next after KV's. But somehow Gul and Zee seems to hold on to this hope on her. But she is good looking, has a good figure and is a decent actress...just that she doesn't work for me the way Sanaya did as Khushi (BTW, Khushi's madness is what attracted me to IPK- ASR or Barun came only after that.)or Nikita is doing as Suman.

Would have personally loved Kritika Kamra doing this role...😳

Look test pics here.

J,

Welcome to the madness called EDKV! 😆
