Abhay,
When the writer says the Prince of Age he is referring to Akbar right?
Akbar truly was liberal and had a lot of opinions when it comes to religions there is a lot of debate on such. Ekta Jalal can't be compared to Akbar he was very mobile not only in the harem.
There was a place that a priest was debating on monogamy. Please explain:
" Hindu women maybe divided into five classes with regard to their methods of expressing grief for the death of their husband. He said that some will walk into the flames of fire and burn with their husbands
😕
So i am back finally for some time. :)
Prince of Age is Akbar.
About the last para..
This refers to ancient Indian custom followed by Hindus those days > when a husband dies wife committed herself to the funeral pyre of her husband.
Abul Fazl tells 5 such cases > This is one of them.
^^^ But this is given in Ain i Akbari. It is not history of Akbar, it only contains practices and customs, and some are of no use and tough to understand. But, if you are able to understand it then its great. ! 😊
For Akbar's history, if you do it, start from Vincent Smith one. It is easiest to read.
BTW, Salutes to you for reading Indian history with so much dedication and humility , despite not being related to it. 👏
PS : Be careful, if you read Akbarnama, at some places the
translator calls the foster mother as simply "mother". You may get confused in parentage, hence telling in advance.
Examples :
1. He called Maham Anga as simply mother at one place.
2. Death of foster mother of Danial is called death of Daniyal's mother. Though, MUZ was alive and after this incident of foster mom's death the translator
again implies that mother of Danial was alive. 😆
3. And at one place in Salim's memoirs they called Nur Jahan as mother of Khurram😲😉..
