Ciao, Kwerky! 🤗 Been a long time since I caught you online.
Kaisi ho?

P.S. I know... If I didn't have to work, even I'd have accomplished so much in life... 😛

I actually came online with a specific request for Kwerky - I need to be ready with movies for when the Dabbey-wala comes back again. 😎 Do you have some suggestions for me too? I need Hindi movies - like, the really slick ones which can be appreciated by people unfamiliar with Bollywood territory. [For obvious reasons, "Queen" is out... "English Vinglish" was poorly received...]
@Children of Heaven: It is such a lovely movie. What also made me very happy was the few words of Farsi here and there that I could understand... 😳

Oh...the Return of the Dabbey-Wala! 😳😛 Great!

Slick Hindi movies, haan? 🤔 Will have to think..😆...since you have already seen the better of the crop...like Kahaani, Queen etc. Kahaani reminds me of...- have you seen "A Wednesday"? They came out in the same year and both were equally appreciated.

Some really good movies (by our Hindi films' standards) from the last few years will inevitably be those with darker shades/unconventional ones...ok?

Will get back to you in a couple of days.😃

Yes...Children of Heaven is a beautiful movie!

@Wisu: I am back earlier than expected...😆...here is a list of movies I could think of from the last few years...
- A Wednesday - a nice thriller. Recommended. This was the first movie of it's director, Neeraj Pandey. His second movie - Special 26 - a movie about con-artists (based on true incidents) was enjoyable too...though there were flaws and you have to keep logic aside. I just watched his latest movie - Baby - last week. Another ok thriller but with increasing loopholes in the script.

- Taare Zameen Par - pretty good effort by Aamir Khan...do watch it if you haven't already.

- Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara - an enjoyable one-time watch...light comedy. On the lines of 'Dil Chahta Hai'...

- Lootera - Bollywood take on O'Henry's 'The Last Leaf'. Simple and effective...good music.

- Chak De India - entertaining and predictable. One movie of Shahrukh Khan that I could tolerate and found interesting. The other one is: 'Swades'. I thought they were excellent by Bollywood standards.👍🏼

- 'Lagaan' is a good movie too...though pretty long at 3hrs+.

- Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year - another one from the director of 'Chak de India'. It is a very underrated and under-appreciated movie...maybe because it is not over-dramatic. I liked it...Ranbir Kapoor was fantastic in this one. Have you watched it?

- Barfi - seen this? A lot of people find it outstanding. It is definitely different from the run-of-the-mill stuff...some great music. Though I can't stand Priyanka Chopra's performance. 😕

- Black - Rani Mukherji and Amitabh Bachchan...saw it many years back...thought it was excellent.

Has anyone seen 'The Lunchbox'? It has been celebrated and feted but I can't seem to understand the hullabaloo. Not to mention...the glaring discrepancy w.r.t. The Dabbawallahs' delivery system. I found the movie just ok...maybe because I couldn't stomach the discrepancy from the starting. 😆

So these are all that came to mind...a selection of rom-coms, dramas, thrillers. Hope it helps...😊

There are a couple of other interesting movies...don't know if you should show it to your friend...but you can surely see them yourself whenever you have time:
- Aamir
- Khosla Ka Ghosla - funny!
- If you like dark/serious/gangster movies...then I recommend Anurag Kashyap's movies - (Gangs of Wasseypur - 1&2, Dev.D, Black Friday, Ugly)... Sarkar, Sarkar Raj

Kwerky, thank you very much for the effort you put in to type down this list... 🤗

I sent off the Dabbey wala with "Lootera" in a pen-drive. So, that he'll enjoy on his own. The next movie he and I will watch together (whenever that will be) will have to be "Barfi". 😳
But I should systematically follow your list and watch "A Wednesday"... Uskey baad, I will watch "lagaan"...

@The Lunchbox: I have watched it. Was okay, in my opinion too. Kinda mediocre... Was also baffled when I read all the glowing reviews... 😕

BTW - what did you think about "Maalamaal weekly" and "Welcome to Sajjanpur"?
