BTW,

It was very sad to know of the brutality which was unleashed in Peshawar against those innocent kids. :(

RIP.
My heart felt condolences for them.

Death of Akbar is a confused chapter of history. He had some stomach ailment.
And he died of this.

That poisoning rumor is of around 1590 NOT 1605 when Akbar died..

I don't believe that Salim poisoned him and he died due to that.

There are many theories as far as this issue is concerned.
I don't want to write here and create more confusions. 😆

ah Okay. Thanks Abhay...

Abhay, can you share some information about the life and achievements of Raja Maan Singh? Besides being one of the 'navratanas' in Akbar's court, he was also related to Akbar, via marriage. Could you please elaborate on who his wife/ wives were, and the nature of his relationship with Akbar's kids?
I am also curious to know if Moti Bai ever married and had a life of her own, or was she Jodha's sakhi / daasi all her life.

Charu.

The actor playing the character of Akbar in MP is able to show that regal arrogance of a young Emperor. I like his expressions and the method of dialogue delivery. ALong with that the people who write the dialogues for that show clearly demarcate between the language of Mughals and the Rajputs. I mean, normal Hindi and some mixture of Persian type words.
But in JA every thing looks mixed. Initially it was fine, but later the line became blurred.

I agree about the pace bit, some times it gets really slow. But this(MP) show , they have planned for long. Soon, we may have 2 shows to discuss - Ashoka and MP. JA may not run for long. Already SA is about to start.

Abhay

If we want to see how Muslims talk, we should watch old Muslim socials (the movies that came in the 50s and 60s). The language, the dialogues, the songs, everything used to be good. Even costumes.

After the JA debacle, I don't have the energy left to invest in any new show - MP or Ashoka :(

Thanks Rashmi. I am reading about him now and then.
By the way, i got to know something about him which i did not know before.
We know Akbar had his Navratans. Shivaji also had his AsthaPradhans.
Peshwa , Amatya , Sachiv , Mantri , Senapati , Sumant , Nyayadhish , Panditrao

He had a well developed administration system, demarcated the duties to these 8 people above. Till now, i knew only about the hereditary Peshwas. The other 7 were not known to me. Though, my knowledge about him is not much at the moment, but i found this 8-officer organization very interesting.

Please share more insights about him here. It will be fascinating to know more.

And, before both of them Chandragupta Vikramaditya had Navratans, around 1000 years back. Though i dont know much about him, but digging the lives of all these people is very interesting. :D

Abhay

Talk about Chandragupta Vikramaditya! He is perhaps one of the best known and regarded Indian king.

I know about (only) 3 of his gems - Kalidas : one of the best of the ancient playwrights, whose plays are dramatized even today; VArahamihir : famous astrologer (and astronomer ?) and Dhanvantri - famous physician.

If you post about him, pls let me know. :)

About this folk tale, there is one more thing i want to mention. 😊

In Rajasthan, there is a same tale about Rani Padmini. She was so fair that water could be seen going down through her throat , when she used to drink it . {This is a FOLK TALE, perhaps to signify her beauty.}

Scientifically, the women would require a very thin / transluscent skin for the liquids to be seen through. 😆

It should be fine if a dusky actress plays the role of MAstani. Important point being how convincing she makes the character look. The world over the trend now is to break conventions and cast nontypical / unconventional actors in traditional roles so that the audience focus more on the personality of the character rather than their physical attributes.

That way, the guy who plays MP is hardly 7 feet. The idea is to show authority and not just physical resemblance. And to his credit, the actor has been able to pull off the role of MP convincingly so far. 😊
