Those days there were many songs with the South Indian sound coz of tunes and singers reused in Hindi by Southern Music Directors. AR Rahman, Harris Jayraj with Hulchul and others.

MM Kreem is probably one of few who had different sounds in Hindi films.

Never heard about lakeer.. But Rhythm came in 2000.

You would like this movie Lik. Wonderful acting, cinematography, music including the back ground score..

Rhythm (film) gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it. Just like Mouna Ragam/Dil Chahta hai..
