There are many love/hate stories on TV, how is RR coming across compared to others? Does the show feel repetitive, do the characters feel outdated? My question is what makes RR distinct? This for those who are watching other shows. Thank you in advance.

I watch only one other show YHM on star plus U that too sporadically ...both are very different shows so just cannot compare. I find YHM very ektaish in its execution ( three times face close up etc 😆) and sometimes too stereotypical and slapstick for my liking but the emotional connect is very strong ...

I am truely enjoying RR ..I managed to somehow see the last 5 episodes even when I was travelling everyday 😆

The only other show I watched regularly for abt a year but gave up abt 2 months back is QH ...which honestly in terms of the leads had more similarities to IPK ...the only difference being other sub plots ie beyond the two leads were also quiet well developed.

Thanks Jaya --- I guess i missed that part ( did not watch not FF!!)... so maybe his turning over a new leaf and doing something with life is part of the script... good then... so the parents just got the girl married to a jobless guy who did not even have a good education... hmmm... 😲You mean there's a way to watch tv in some way other other than FF???😆 Yeah it would be good if he's shown to change. In CC, the impression was that Manav was studying and was the ladla without responibilites but as soon as he got married and had a wife to support he was shown to be working.

As for the child marriage stuff... that never made sense from Day 1... why she comes back and why he goes back for the third marriage... if the marriage was legal , he committed bigamy the first time , if it wasn't , there was no need to go back... Agree that the story is based on SharatChandra... but they could have handled it more logically.. Oh ok I didn't know it was based on a novel, so why didn't the makers stick to the time period in the novel then it might have made sense. I wonder why the makers brought it into modern times and then I assume failed to address the illegal child marriage and the bigamy issues...par Sanaya ka show nahin hain toh chalta hain!!!

As for the dupatta and sexy kamariya talk ... less said the better!! Laila o Laila - har koi chaahe thumse milna akela!!! You mean 'koi koi chahe' and all those koi's are on the RR forum and they watch the show with their young kids and other family members😕

Signing in here after ages ... some things never change. 😆 Any show with a sensible intelligent female lead was taken as the best thing after sliced bread ... now that Paro is also turning out to be intelligent and very smart, despite her lack of education, wonder what will be the next ideal female lead on telly? 😆
I don't watch BI either ... no particular reason except that it clashes with diner time for me ... I have to get dinner done before 9.30 for RR ... and honestly, BI hasn't inspired much interest in me after the initial episodes ... very hackneyed been there, done that plot, with inspiration from n number of BW movies about guy teasing girl by pretending to be someone else, girl getting angry ... why two educated intelligent people even got married in that way at all, I can't understand. Didn't Aliya break her wedding because of a dowry demand ... that too, in public ... so the whole world knew why she was breaking it ... so what was the need to get married immediately? In CC, CC's friend's marriage broke because of dowry demands, and Chhanchhan encouraged her to move on and become financially independent ... I found that much more sensible. And now the whole wicked MIL humiliating her DIL in front of her own husband's friends gets me ... why would an educated society lady want to humiliate her own husband and son, just to show down her DIL? Maybe I don't know the details .. this is all I've got while waiting for RR to start ... so I may have missed some details.

Child marriage one I never understood either ... if the girl knew her husband had married in the interim and even had a kid, then the child marriage was automatically null and void ... that much I got from BV, where they DO clarify these things much better. Child marriage is illegal in India, period ... if the couple want to stay married, they have to re-marry once they attain majority. So there was no reason for an "intelligent, educated" girl to keep waiting for her husband for 18 years ... and even less, accept him once she knew he had married in the interim. Don't understand these educated girls ... the problem with adapting a novel based in a period almost a hundred years ago is the adaptation to modern times. SC had the same problems when they started ... the complete disconnect between the time period of the novel and adapting it to modern times. But then no modern educated girl would actually agree to a hate marriage, or a child marriage, so the serial would not be made! 😆

I know why you're asking this, U. 😃

Okay, my input ... I watch three shows fairly regularly and one sporadically. Gustakh Dil, Ek Bood Ishq and RR ... of these three, the first two are more erratic, as I've been travelling, but I watch when home, I don't bother to catch up on missed episodes.
I think the bulk of my TV watching is the same way ... watch a few episodes here and there, while they are in an interesting phase, and drop them when they get too boring or repetitive or negative ... yes, I do drop shows when the negativity is too much, and re-start when they get lighter.

I like GD for the relationship between the leads ... they are friends, he genuinely likes her as a person, even though he harbors no romantic feeling towards her ... she does for him. There are a whole bunch of very sensible supporting characters ... my favourites there are Ishana's mom and Lajjo's mom, but I also like Nikhil's dad and chachu and cousins and friends ... in fact most of the characters 😃 So I guess one big reason is the presence of many LIKEABLE characters. Realistically speaking, Lajjo and Nikhil would be misfits together ... untill she educated herself, smartened up and acquired a bit of town polish ... but she is my favourite kind of lead ... an INTELLIGENT girl, who DOES something in life ... even in her village. I don't watch it for the love story really ... it's just a pleasant light show.

EBI ... I liked it when it started, dropped it for a long time in the middle ... this is one show that I like for the portrayal of the male lead ... normally I watch shows if I like the female lead, this is an exception.

I have been watching YHM sporadically ... I like the subject, and despite the VERY cliched Ekta mata treatment, I will probably keep watching it off and on.

Rangrasiya .. I started for Sanaya obviously ... but what I am now watching for is the story ... I want to know the mystery behind Rudra's mom running away, the connection between her, the Thakur, the reason for Mohini's vicious jealousy ... I think at this point, even more than the love story, its the background story that fascinates me. Why is the kaaka in touch with his bhabhi ... what is the Thakurain's role in all this ... I want to see the complete story here ... and I hope to god they don't disappoint us. I don't know if I would have watched if Sanaya wasn't there ... but with the story being etched the way it is, I think I would. Because there is an actual story here ... not just a love-hate Tom and Jerry type of bickering. It was the same in IPK, they had an actual story there to tell, which was why it was so interesting .. till it unravelled.

Oh ok Dia, so the marriage wasn't legally binding so no bigamy (legally anyway) but then why did they need to divorce? Or was that scene just for the promo and didn't happen in the show? So this modern educated girl felt bound by an invalid marriage to a man she hadn't seen since child hood who had married and moved on with his life??? Chalo perhaps logical shows are not my cup of tea😕😆
Until I came on IF I never evaluated story lines so carefully, just took each show at face value and watched what I liked and didn't watch what I didn't like (still the same). This whole concept of watching a show that I don't like (FF or otherwise) just to tear it and an actor apart just goes over my head. Perhaps my thinking is regressive and I need to get with the program and find an actor whose every move I can bash.😲

Ash, i don't watch BI, can't get past the glazed freaky eyes😆. Didn't Zain flunk out of college in the first couple of episodes (yes I did try to watch because I love Amrita but even that love wasn't enough). Anyway it's hardly surprising that no one would pay attention to that little detail because after all Sanaya Irani isn't in that show so it must be the most logical and progressive show in the world. A forced marriage based on 'reputation' and a parents bad health is such a new never before done concept.😆 Actually I have no gripes with BI , it's more the people who have turned this into a competition between BI and RR because let's face it 'lover her or hate her' people can't stop focusing on Sanaya😆 Thing is their lack of consistency just makes them look like fools.
Shows where the theme is a regressive child marriage that the educated lead is holding on to despite the fact that her 'husband' not only remarried and has a child but is getting ready for a third marriage are somehow inspiring and progressive? Btw in that show did they show the couples parents facing prosecution for child marriage or wasn't it outlawed at the time that marriage took place. Was the husband jailed for bigamy, after all didn't he file for divorce from his first wife after his second wife passed away? Or didn't he know about the child marriage in which case were the parents then held responsible for allowing the son to commit bigamy or are the parents not on the scene? Sorry don't watch the show but I've read about how logical and progressive it is so was just wondering.
Sunara, it's sickening that a mother who thinks if her daughter doesn't cover herself with a dupatta she's inviting rape will then sit the same small child in front of the tv to watch a scene with sexual innuendos

@red - eagerly waiting to know! 😆 my sexy kamariya gone..😭 but i have the videos!! aahh i go and ogle the sexy kamariya to my heart's content when i feel kamariya deprived!!

the black part - went over my head.. 😆 i have no idea even of the name of the shows u r talking abt except fro BI.. in which case ya gave a try cz of Amrita.. gave up as i fell asleep.., end of story..

Green - sicko! or hypocrite! or both! don't have anything else to say! 🥱

Thank you Guinea and Diya. I don't watch other shows but I know why I am enjoying RR. Like you said Diya, it is the background story apart from the love story which is becoming interesting with every passing week. I am glad every character is pushing the story ahead and it is not left to the chemistry of leads to draw the audience. Finally the acting which is among the best in TV serials.
Thank you too Sunara.
