I watch only one other show YHM on star plus U that too sporadically ...both are very different shows so just cannot compare. I find YHM very ektaish in its execution ( three times face close up etc 😆) and sometimes too stereotypical and slapstick for my liking but the emotional connect is very strong ...
I am truely enjoying RR ..I managed to somehow see the last 5 episodes even when I was travelling everyday 😆
The only other show I watched regularly for abt a year but gave up abt 2 months back is QH ...which honestly in terms of the leads had more similarities to IPK ...the only difference being other sub plots ie beyond the two leads were also quiet well developed.
I know why you're asking this, U. 😃
Okay, my input ... I watch three shows fairly regularly and one sporadically. Gustakh Dil, Ek Bood Ishq and RR ... of these three, the first two are more erratic, as I've been travelling, but I watch when home, I don't bother to catch up on missed episodes.
I think the bulk of my TV watching is the same way ... watch a few episodes here and there, while they are in an interesting phase, and drop them when they get too boring or repetitive or negative ... yes, I do drop shows when the negativity is too much, and re-start when they get lighter.
I like GD for the relationship between the leads ... they are friends, he genuinely likes her as a person, even though he harbors no romantic feeling towards her ... she does for him. There are a whole bunch of very sensible supporting characters ... my favourites there are Ishana's mom and Lajjo's mom, but I also like Nikhil's dad and chachu and cousins and friends ... in fact most of the characters 😃 So I guess one big reason is the presence of many LIKEABLE characters. Realistically speaking, Lajjo and Nikhil would be misfits together ... untill she educated herself, smartened up and acquired a bit of town polish ... but she is my favourite kind of lead ... an INTELLIGENT girl, who DOES something in life ... even in her village. I don't watch it for the love story really ... it's just a pleasant light show.
EBI ... I liked it when it started, dropped it for a long time in the middle ... this is one show that I like for the portrayal of the male lead ... normally I watch shows if I like the female lead, this is an exception.
I have been watching YHM sporadically ... I like the subject, and despite the VERY cliched Ekta mata treatment, I will probably keep watching it off and on.
Rangrasiya .. I started for Sanaya obviously ... but what I am now watching for is the story ... I want to know the mystery behind Rudra's mom running away, the connection between her, the Thakur, the reason for Mohini's vicious jealousy ... I think at this point, even more than the love story, its the background story that fascinates me. Why is the kaaka in touch with his bhabhi ... what is the Thakurain's role in all this ... I want to see the complete story here ... and I hope to god they don't disappoint us. I don't know if I would have watched if Sanaya wasn't there ... but with the story being etched the way it is, I think I would. Because there is an actual story here ... not just a love-hate Tom and Jerry type of bickering. It was the same in IPK, they had an actual story there to tell, which was why it was so interesting .. till it unravelled.
