Aah, finally all caught up on MB. Turned out I hadn't seen the episodes after Monday.
Anyway, agreeing with all recent discussions, the progress so far has been surprisingly, steadily well done. If I was feeling entertained by RK's full on protective defensive launch in Madhu's favor some past days, it is now the innate conflict of his defense that is playing out as such an authentic layer. The way he alternates between letting her in, yet keeping her away is being shown very well, not to mention overlapped perfectly with his narrative of the wounded soul he lives with.
On which note, apart from generally liking the scene of his narrative pretty much, I loved the visual nuance they included - hopefully an intentional touch from the creatives/Vivian - in the way he drags his father's chair. While bringing it out, with an energy that stems from his stubborn struggle against the pain, and while putting it back, in an exhausted manner. But the way he drags it, a relic of his father's memories, the fact that he drags it - a relic that is a burden of the memory it holds, was a brilliant as a figurative means.
Also - and this might be just me, cause it's soo random! - the setting of this scene abruptly reminded me of the Kesar Gulaal confrontation about Dushyant's truth post the night of Kesar burning the odhni. The deserted pond side area, day time, a confrontation that ensues on account of demanded answers, and revelations of the past... of course, the GK scene is epic at it's own untouchable level, but like I said, randomly, this RK Madhu scene reminded me of it.
Between yesterday and today, RK's withdrawal overlapping with the continued protection for Madhu has been the most interesting progress. In this respect I think RK's character is much better layered than other similar male protagonists. The way they balance showing him as humanly, spontaneously, even willingly accepting of Madhu's companionship, her increasing invasion into his own space vs his self aware and hence guarded resistance against letting the acceptance of this companionship evolve is commendably done so far. There is a steady progress without resorting to any unrealistic rush with unfounded moments of revelation.
And on that account, it's interesting how RK manifests his resistance, with those trivial nothings that Madhu or he himself have previously sorted to be otherwise; while Madhu, for once in her all rounded restricted predicament of debt/favor and growing sentiments for him finds herself part helpless, and part sympathetic thereby failing to question him for his drinking, or sleeping away. This strain, unlike so many contrived versions among such similar couples actually makes sense, since it has grown to this level, and isn't just plugged in for the heck. There's a tangible attraction between them, which both feel - but while Madhu despite any streaks of better sense or skepticism is allowing it to take over, RK is resisting it's growth to any proportions beyond his current aware control.
Overall, good stuff. Haven't seen the BTS segment, or trailer, but the precap looked a tad dramatic. Still, this show does manage to throw in more than necessary drama and still get away with it credibly enough... so maybe tomorrow will be fine too... Can only begin to imagine what kinds of awkward Madhu's confession will bring on. Probably lead to an ill-timed gap between them, despite a mutual space of acceptance, or rather, because of the mutual imbalance of that space...
On yet another note, they used NBT music in that scene between Madhu and her mother in the bedroom, a bit of one of my fave scores from NBT in fact. Recognized it immediately, although I'm usually much less perceptive of the audio, because I made that final VM on the same... Got me to go back and watch the VM, and then be hit by the nostalgia of some good old NBT style angst... especially the cactus!
