What-aa ? I'm a Colin Firth/Darcy/The Lake Darcy fangirl :P
I love this series LadyM ! For me , it remains the definitive P&P adaptation ... the book's one of my all-time favourites , I read it when I was in the sixth grade I think , and well , I've been a Darcy fangirl since then :P *sigh* I know...they were true to the book , but they were slightly revisionist as well I guess...the lake scene ! :P :P Even in some other portions...they changed things , but never without betraying the spirit of the book I guess...the acting was superb in it , particularly Jennifer Ehle I thought...people remember Colin Firth from the series , even now , say BBC's P&P series and they'll be like : The one with Colin Firth ? In the lake ? 😆 But I thought she got Elizabeth's character perfectly...with the whole arch/teasing mannerisms and everything...Keira Knightley was nowhere close in the 2005 movie though she was pretty good as well...and don't even get me started on the 2005 Darcy :P
It's practically impossible to find sigs of this version...there are loads of icons, but I haven't found any sigs...and I've trawled LJ :P :P
I agree with the 1995 version being more close to the book. I watched the 2005 movie. I just couldnt connect with it. It seemed too fluffy, ( not that the original book is anything deep, but still). And Jennifer Ehle played Elizabeth the way I had imagined her to be, when I had read the book for the first time. Colin Firth, I loved him. He was a MAN in that series .
Regarding the dude who played the Darcy in the 2005 movie ( my memory fails me as usual on his name), he was too boyish for Darcy. But i loved him in another British movie, "Death at a funeral".
That was a movie that I picked just like that at Blockbuster and started watching it without any expectations and had such a good time. It has a whacky British humor and also sometimes gross. But I was literally rofling at a few places. Not recommended to watch during dinner though ( I made the mistake of doing just that .. and err.. no comments 😆)
@Fivr, thanks for the welcome .. 😃
