I'm contemplating quitting the BB development team. Controversial reality shows ke forums ko moderate karna mere bas ki baat nahin hai, which I have learned the hard way from experience.
I've found myself turning into something that I am not - for the sake of the forum. Due to the rules, I have to intervene and ask people to refrain from mocking and name calling the celebrities when
I have done the same in this CC for countless celebs. When I have been amused by the weird antics of various fangirls, I don't think
I should be asking the others to abstain from taking pot shots at each other (though I don't remember
ever criticizing the fangirls as ruthlessly as the BB forum's members bash each other, but still). I use profanity at times (b*tch, W*F, W*H, etc) so somehow I don't feel nice about posting notes/warnings when the others use curse words.
In short, not only do I feel hypocritical and judgmental, but I also feel like a confused soul because I do NOT know where to draw the line when it comes to reports. Going by what I am accustomed to (i.e the way we all post our thoughts, opinions and rants in this CC) I don't feel that 90% of the reports deserve to be taken action on. However, going by the rules that the
admins have imposed, most of those reports are fair.
If I were at a position of higher authority then I could have modified some of the rules to make the forum relatively less restricted. As a viewbie there is very little I can do to allow an atmosphere to exist that lets people exercise freedom of speech in that particular forum, especially when the celebrities in question are displaying antics that literally BEG for abusive comments while their fans believe their favourites can do no wrong. The NAIDL forum was an easy one to tackle because I was the only one on the development team. Plus the members were very mature and objective. And above all it was a fictional show so nobody minded all the bashing of the characters.
What acts as an obstacle here is the fact that I have already made a commitment to the channel moderator with whom I share a very amicable rapport. The other viewbie on the team has become a good acquaintance of mine by now and is a very pleasant person to work with. If I back out, she'll have to deal with the craziness all by herself and I don't know if they'll be able to arrange for someone else
this soon. So I really don't know what to do. January needs to arrive asap so that this show can end and I'll be free. *sigh* I dunno what to do about this situation.
Any suggestions?
