Yeah, this mod business is WAY trickier than I thought. The NAIDL forum was a piece of cake and still is. This one toh is ... *shudders* ... total madness! I do agree that some things are to a mod's discretion - which is why I've let many offenses slide by millions of times because I didn't think they were violating the rules - and by "rules" I meant the kind of invisible rules of basic etiquette that we sane folks follow, lol. However, that doesn't sit well and people start wondering why the mods aren't taking any action against the "haters" and "bashers". They play the "but it is against the rules" card while reporting and claim that so and so's post is wrong by IF's standards and that we're being biased/incompetent/etc by letting them get away. That is what you can't argue with, unfortunately. I still wouldn't take action but the explanations are getting harder to come up with. I don't have the time or mental strength for it.
To make things more annoying, some people report each other for the pettiest of reasons. For instance, person A holds a grudge against person B. So when B goes off topic for two minutes in a thread, person A reports her just out of spite. I mean seriously what is it to you if someone has posted in caps or is chatting? Just because you hate them, you don't have to be petty about it. Plus all the fanbases are very defensive - and to be honest if I was actually interested in the show I might have had fun dealing with the wars. Since I don't give a damn about what Shweta says to Dolly or what's brewing between Sara and Ashmit, I'm not invested in the posts either ... lol
I'm amazed by the stamina that people like Gagan possess. She's been dealing with the likes of CMG/MJHT for years and that too, very efficiently. I'm also surprised by those mods who become a part of the development team just so that they could boast of being 'better' than the other members and subsequently have people worshiping at their altar - they must really love the prestige that comes with this title(s) if they're willing to bear so much nonsense in return! Personally I am more than happy to stick to my small group of like minded posters whom I hang out with because I want to, not because I have to. I'd rather have real friends than superficial fans or blind worshipers any day.
