@Anu: I agree with Mash here- JA's style of writing takes some time to get used to and the descriptions of seemingly unimportant characters and their establishing and of the society takes some patience to read through but the story picks up momentum mid-way and one begins to get curious to read more to know what happens- I think that is the way with all the classics in general. And yes reading a JA book takes one longer than usual lol, I personally love JA's satire and like I said already, English literature really interests me, I wanted to pursue literature but went for Engineering instead for practical reasons, considering the opportunities in India are more for the latter and that is why I automatically get that patience and interest to read JA books hehehe and then of course, JA's satirical style of writing is awesome.
@Mash: You are not alone - I love Mr Darcy but after reading Emma, Mr Knightley has an edge over Mr Darcy for me probably because he has not been emulated as much as the former but somehow Mr Knightley scores over Mr Darcy for me. Mr Darcy's character had a flaw in his pride but Mr Knightley did not have even that and yet he was believable as a character. As for Elizabeth and Emma, I like the former more probably because I can identify with the former more than the latter , as for the stories- both are different plots and both are amazing in their own way.
Oh I liked Josh too but I can NEVER think of Josh's character to have been inspired from Mr Knightley , as for Arjun, I think he possesses SOME traits of Mr Knightley like his manner of correcting Aisha but with little less bluntness of course. I have to add that I love that in Clueless, Frank's character was made gay 😆
