@ Gunia - yayyyyy so glad to see how well that tutorial worked out, the b-day sigs are just heavenly 😍 And loving the new SiyaRam ones as well, keep rocking sis 👏
@ Shivang - Pranaam bhaiya 🤗 I knew you'd have an awesome topic ready for me when I come back!!! The RadheShyam metaphor confusion's a brilliant observation, but I think if I lay out my thoughts on the prem-bhakti prompt first, the former will become easier to discuss also. So, here goes: From what I can infer, "prem" puts the lover and the beloved at the same level, and "bhakti" places the beloved on a higher pedestal. Prem can come in many flavors (i.e. saakhya, madhurya, vatsalya, etc) and bhakti is only one kyunki har rishte mein sirf wahi nazar aata hai (twameva maata, cha pita twameva...). Prem mein shayad thoda ahankaar aa jaaye pehle pehle, par bhakti mein kabhi nahin. Consider Janak's and Bharat's exchange that we so love in Ramayan - tumhi Ram ke charnon mein baithkar vinamrata se puchho, ke usse kya chaahiye. The moment of realization that comes upon Bharat right there can be thought of as his transition from Prem to Bhakti, because he goes from thinking that he knows what's best to surrendering: "Thy will be done". But then from Krishna's point of view, everyone is the same - remember what he says after Radha tests the gopis (right before "prem jagat ka saar"): mujhpar maya ka koi asar nahin hota, mujhe sab ek si dikhaayi deti hai. With that kind of unobscured samdhrishti, who could he possibly put on a pedestal and engage in bhakti?! For him it's back to prem, but of a different kind - rather than initiating different relationships with all these people whom he knows are simpy reflections of himself, he reciprocates whatever feelings have (jaaki rahi bhavna jaisi...), helping them feel close to him upto the point that they feel one with him. Then they do become one with him and the line from "prem jagat" you quoted proves perfectly true - prem dagar pe chalte chalte bhakti ki paaavan nadiyaan aaye, bhakti ki nadiyaan behte behte prem ke saagar mein kho jaaye... bhakti ke dono or prem hai, bhakti khadi majhdhaar - you start out with some form of differentiated prem, beech mein bhakti aati hai aur ahankaar ka naash kar deti hai, aur uske baad phir se prem - but this time it's non-differentiated and complete, because Self-realization has been attained and in all you percieve the Self. Hum sab ke nazariye se Radha bhakti aur Krishna prem ho sakte hai, par jab nazar Krishna ke jaisi ho jaati hai to aisa farak rehta hi nahin - jab sab wahi hai to bhakt kaun, aur bhagwan kaun? That kind of perception is what makes Prem in its truest form possible - the form of unconditional love.
In other news, so sorry to hear about your tech issues with IF... hope my scrap helped some of them, for now I'll post the rest of the pics from the email you sent but we'll def get to the bottom of this and have you giving us full fledged pic updts in no time 😉 You're right, this film puts SDB on a totally different plane as an actor - how else could he be capable of such saintly smiles 😍 Another great observation in guessing that our Sugriv was also our Narsingh Bhagwan, quite possible cuz the dashavtaar epis of SK were done during the later epis of Lav Kush only - as proven by my still in tact tapings of Lav Kush from DD, which contain trailers for those parts of SK 😃 Hanumanji's dubbing artist as that Akashwani, though, I easily guessed - very very busy man, he's still with the Sagars and voiced Vashisht on NDTV's Ramayan. And the voice they used on our Yashoda Maiya (heard her original in Alif Laila and that Rani aur Maharani movie Gunia posted a clip of, slightly diff) was again used for Rukmini, did you notice??
Also thanks a million for the Meghnaad farewell dialogue, will def help for the later DOTW we'll be having on that duty vs loved ones question you inspired... we'll get there soon, it'll be fun!!!
@ Debi - wowwww what a posting spree.... bhaiya's right di, bahut anand mila aapke is mood se, aisi hi mood banaaye rakhiye 😉 Saare points bahut sahi the, brilliant analysis... lolz the "chakra sudarshan dhaari" line is among Jain saab's several anachronisms in the lyrics of Ramayan and SK; they don't make sense chronologically... like having the Gokulvaasis say "Jai Kanhaiya lal ki" on Gokulashtami, before Kanhaiya even has a name 😆 but considering that he was giving us not only a soundtrack to a story but general devotional music that can be enjoyed outside of the show's context also, it's all forgivable isn't it 😳
Regarding the initial question of Isht-dev puja, I am totally with you on the "respect nature" interpretation, mostly bcuz it is a message I can easily apply - lol kachda zameen par phekne se pehle do baar sochti hoon, to isi dialogue ki wajah se 😆
And you very nicely termed the "fall of Indra/others to temptation" as a question of free will vs destiny - while I wouldn't completely deny the power of the gunas over the individual, I think it is important to remember the exceptional cases like Prahlaad, Bali, and Vibhishan who were able to transcend the influence of Tamas and become objects of our reverence. When Vibhishan comes to Shri Ram for refuge, he says "main taamsik vriddhi ka hoon, mujh mein saare avgun hai" - despite the existence of these conditioning factors, he became what he became - so for everyone else, that possibility is certainly open.
The new angle you introduced on the relationship between ego and corruption is indeed relevant and thought-provoking, will def address it later... looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to say also. Thanks a million for the Bhagavat excerpt you posted on the various "adhi's" 😆 basically confirms my inference, that it is a prefix for superlatives. And the Prahlad exchange you shared is indeed touching, perfect illustration of the selflessness of bhakti... thank you soooooooo much for sharing, bahut achha laga 🤗
