So by now, finally, finally, most people's tolerance level for the nonsensical crap we are shown in the name of a youth show has been hit. Some with lower level had stopped watching ages ago while others who were still hopeful and more passionate fans stayed watching and are still doing so till now.
Let's talk some serious issues, shall we?
But before we do let's clear two things. One, this is not a fan-based discussion. I refuse to get involved with either of the couple storyline clashes. This is about D3 as a whole.
Two, this is also not related to the actors. I really don't know any of them personally. And to be honest, I like them all on pretty much the same level and know them just as their characters.
Okay moving on, I think this murder of the show can be blamed on two massive factors. And news flash - both of them don't involve the actors.
1. CVs: Yes, they're new. Yes, they took on a mammoth task when they took on D3. And yes, they aren't faring very well. The problem isn't the storyline - shocking I know - it is something else entirely. But I'll get to that in a bit.
2. Fans: D3 is one of the oldest shows on V. Also one of it's longest running I think? Hmm. It also has the most passionate, fierce and at times, vocal fan base ever. Be it for whichever actor, character or pairing. People love hard here.
And those two factors combined is the reason for this non-sense we see on the TV now a days.
The new CVs don't know how to handle the fan pressure. When they came on board, there were loads of expectations associated with them. A certain character was coming back and along with that, a lot of the old fans and new eyeballs. It was their golden moment to shine. So they started by concentrating on the storyline while still coming to terms with fully understanding all the characters. With some they didn't do such a good job. But time was meagre and of essence here so they just go with what they knew would work and keep them afloat. TRPs.
So they build on a storyline. They start to develop it and then the fans get restless. They have demands. They waited. They've been waiting. And worst still, there are all kinds of fans for all kinds of pairings. Who do they keep happy? How do they keep afloat? Again, TRPs. Which means fulfilling wishes.
So they throw in a few LLHH scenes. A few dances here and there. A few interactions. And before you know it, they're doing okay. The fans are watching. There are bite sized scenes for everyone now and then but the storyline - that's been abandoned a long time ago. But it's okay fans are watching and the TRPs are happening and the channel is happy and the CVs sigh a breathe of relief.
Now it's a matter of keeping the momentum going. So they throw in all the run of the mill scenes and dialogues. Whatever is the flavour of the moment, the demand of the hour, they churn it out. Only problem is, now nothing makes sense in the overarching storyline. The characters have been destroyed. The essence of individual relationships have been ruined. It's all eye candy and mush now.
And non-sensical tracks.
