The main thing is taani doesnt know about the dance event while she talks with VP. She knows about rey and hence she lied...if she know about the team there may be a possibility that she may lie for them also ( willingly or not is secondary)

coming back to the question the team expected taani to lie is not fully wrong as they even helped her in rey's issue

Yea the main part is that she didnt know abt them when she had a talk abt the gang...

But i didnt want her to help that gang...neither did i like Taani lying about Rey

yes gang had helped tanni just becoz of swayam sis or reys gf (as she is not their friend) but whatever they did n they atleast know how to treat ones sis or friends gf but tanni didnt have that amount of it
And about hiding thing, they didn't even bothered to tell her that they r going outside the college, so why to blame her. She knows everything abt Rey, so she lied.
gang know what tanni will do if they will tell her where are they n have seen it today! n tanni know about rey n not about team then she know that where is gang probably but naah she has to used that against them not for saving them.
