Nandini - NOT THE CHARACTER I WANTED TO SEE

Hi I am new here.
I have been following this serial since quite long now and it is one of my favourite serials. The best thing about this serial is, for me, Nandini's ' Righteousness is what I seek' statement. I've always loved her warrior-mood, her courage and standing up to what's wrong. But these recent events have shallowed the character of Nandini. Post leap, the warrior queen has become a dumb cow. Tbh, I have seen examples of love-hate relationships but never like this one. Since the fall of Nand and rise of The Maurya Vansh, since the time when Nandini became the queen of Magadh, everyone has always brutalised her. And even after Nandini taking those oaths in her first time marrying Chandra that she'd never accept Chandra and his family she's been a dutiful woman sharing love to all. But she's this only one woman in the serial who's blamed everytime for everything bad that happens even though she each time proved herself innocent. Nandini, being the girl who's lost her nine loving brothers, kingdom, father's love and being forced to marry her biggest enemy has always kept her wrath aside and been the woman everyone would like to see . If Nandini can overcome the pain and accept her enemies as her family, why couldn't the Chandra, Moora etc. just forget the fact that she's Nand-putri and blah blah and treat her as a normal woman?

And I thought Chanakya, Moora and this king, Chandragupta had some brain. They couldn't think through everything. Like, after what Helena did in the war, Chandra should have guessed that it was Helena who is the real person wanting to.clear her path. And there are so many ways even a dumb cow would find out the real culprit. And this over and over DURDHARA KI HATYAKARI phrase and Chanakya's hard headedness to believing in not seeing the reality is getting so boring.

I love the way the makers of this serial don't keep hanging on the same thing for long but this time it's getting too boring.

And I'd want to ask this question to the viewers of this post,
Once everything is cleared and the guilty is punished and Nandini is proved innocent, and offered her rights back what should our warrior princess do? Forgive everyone in a minute and gale lag Jana or keep her calm and let the others feel guilty for some time?

Hi Mermishgiri, Welcome to the forum 🤗
A 👏 for your observations as they match so much with mine😊
Even i started to watch the show because the prospect of the warrior princess destined to marry her arch-enemy excited me. Also, I thought the choice of lead pair was a pretty good one. Always been a fan of both of them. In the show there was much hate, agnosticism during the initial 2 months. After the CN wedding, they switched from hatred to attraction quite suddenly I felt. Even then, it was ok because the acting was good and some of the tracks where the gradual development of feelings were pretty charming. But for every incident the Nandini-blame game became so repetitive that eventually it has become a joke. But what my observation is, this is very much the staple formula of all hindi serials, heroine will be blamed and then ultimately redeemed. In the meanwhile she will continue her mahanta tirade and hero will be made to feel guilty about it after she is proved innocent. iCVs are not wrong in doing this, because this is what sells. 99% of their audience is women, and they want to see a woman being redeemed by a man, even if that means showing her bowing to all torture put upon her before the redemption, because harder the torture, more cathartic is the final act of redemption. This formula will never get old and CVs will recycle this for time immemorial, we might see our children watching such shows with same track.😆
The only problem is, when they bring all this saas-bahu and hero-heroine drama in a so called historical show and then it just remains a formula driven vehicle set in an older era than ours. The olden era feel brings more viewers because of the costumes, the sets, the grandeur and of course the "creative liberties" that the makers can take in an historical show. A Raja-Rani track will appeal to more viewers than a normal aj ke hero-heroine track isnt it? Even those with a penchant for history might fall for this trap without knowing what they are stepping into 😆
But dear, the fact of the matter and believe me, coz this is the CRUX - you are watching a hindi serial that too made by Ekta. She has a track record of hundreds of serials on all possible channels and all have the same formula, just diff characters. You might say you hadn't signed up for this, but dear you did ! The moment you started watching a hindi serial, you allowed yourself to be challenged by the logic-less plot and gave up your sensibilities to be brutalised by the weird concepts in the world of Hindi serials.
There are people like you & me who seemed baffled by the plots and sometimes vent out like you just did now. And then there are a different set of people, who expect Dilip Kumar style of acting and Bimal Roy style of direction from hindi serials😆 and then bash the serial left, right & center when their expectations are not fulfilled. I don't understand those set of people. I want to shake them up and say , what else were you expecting?

So please take all of this with a pinch of salt, because at the end of the day, this is what sells, and people will watch it, for whatever reasons they have, you & me included 😆

As far as you last question, about heroine making others feel guilty after all is done & dusted, after watching Nandini is behaviour for the past 150 episodes, do you really think any guilty-making is gonna happen?? 😆😆😆

Cheers, keep watching & keep venting 😆

I'm an aspiring film maker, I guess if that's it that sells and if I ever end up making a serial for Balaji I'll have to do the same 😆 😕

@topic maker: welcome to the forum dear ...hope you have a good time here
@pratiksha: well said...meri saari bhavnao ko e paper mein hubaho utaar diya😆 well same her even I signed for vengeful love story ...got thenga instead. 😆

But you know na we are on the same page regarding leads so till now its working for me

@nandini forgiving and forgetting: now this is my dream of having a redemption track or a skillful treatment of "after the truth is out phase" ...and till now it has been unfulfilled no matter which ever show I've signed up for😆...but then CN does sometime surprises pleasantly ...so who knows but mostly I have prepared myself for a hideous villain with horrible acting skills making an entry right after MU gets sorted

Welcome to the forum.
@bold Same thoughts here. Like I said in another post, (copy pasting from my other post )

Despite her self respect being badly hurt and getting humiliated to the most she again return to the palace and I would like her to make this clear later on in the show that she is not someone to be taken for granted. Chandra have to make up for his mistake. Even if Nandhini was not related to Chandra in any form, Chandra is still at fault, being a raja he punished an innocent. Chandra had lost his logical senses, and in all this1 year he didn't felt a necessity to rethink on the entire scenario. Because if Nandhni is not the real culprit then his son's life could be yet in danger.

I hope and wish that you get the opportunity to make films and documentaries for much better genre than hindi serials dear. There is little scope for creativity and sense in the TRP dominated world. But of course, for people trying to make a name in this field of film making, this particular production house might be a huge stepping stone for exposure. Just that, they might not be making the kind of films they set out to, but later when they can they would 😊 .
