And as in many historical kings life, there is always a favorite queen. A mother may love all her child equal, but a King can always have a favourite 😉

In Chandra's case, he became king at a very young age. Age where naturally boys are testing out the theory of love. And so it happens the girl who would pull at his heart strings would be Nandini. If you think of it, there is not much to wonder. Dhurdhara is a lost case. Apart from having the glittering title of being his childhood best friend, she has nothing to bring to the table of the now maturing and ruling king of Magadh. She will always be, until her expiry, his insuferable comic relief.

HElena on the other hand had an opportunity to be his lady love; until she lost it all the first time by telling him that he is king because of her. OH, hell no. You don't get to slap a man's ego in that way and expect him to be bewitched by him

Nandini had challenged him to. During her stupid days of being Nand Putri, she had at numerous time called him a coward and challenged his manhood. Chanakya took care of that fairly well with the consummation of his marriage to Dhurdhara. Upon the death of her siblings and father (at that point of time) Nandini stopped calling him coward. And further into her days as his wife, she is the one who has offered him support and her most shining quality is her lack of ego.

Of course every Emperor had his favorites and none could question why. AND Nandini is a lovely companion in comparison to the other 2. But such open and public favouritism! It is understandable if Chandra spends most nights with Nandini. But ALL?

Helena did hurt his pride with ' i made you king' but so did Nandini with 'are you man enough'. After that Helena is very careful to hide her pride and evil from Chandra and has been supportive outwardly. Even when he switched the Mukhya Maharani decision overnight, she pretended to accept it most gracefully. And he knows that her contribution to making him king though for different intentions has been immense, and her support in those days he was desperate and failing. Then his keeping away from her hardly makes sense

Of course I don't agree with the entire XY Choromosoms of Maurya clan rooting and cheering for Nandini, Sandhya. It is unjustifiable, especially on Daadi's part.

I am only supporting Chandra wanting to have her for his favourite.

I do agree that after that mistake Helena has been extremely careful in pretending to be the lovey dovey wife. To an extend, she is a lovey dovey wife for real because she thinks she is in love with Chandra. The only problem with her love is that it is the sort that a child in Kindergarden would have for a doll and holds tight to it so that other children will not play with it. It is more of establishing ownership than a selfless love

Eventhough, to Chandra she does not show her ugly side; I have felt that there is always a stark difference in the both of them. Nandini always comes out as genuinely caring and loving. While Helena's care and love is first and foremost focused on Chandra alone, and when it is towards others it appears as if she is trying too hard.

Basically what I am saying is that, like how Chandra now claims he can sense the difference between Roopa and Nandini within him i.e. he feels odd and restless around Roopa; If I was Chandra I would get the vibe on fakeness from Helena.

Its a pity actually. She, I think, is not really pure evil. It is her want to own him completely driving her to do very stupid and detrimental things. She is always seen by Chandra to be alleging or incriminating someone. It would not be a trait i would find pleasing in my queen.

See Nandini has this advantage where, Chandra think he had mistreated her for her father's sins, and all she did was due to her love for her father. Of course, Helena may not be privy to this. But it seems to me that Nandini's past sins are more easily erasable on this point, then Helena's who tried to prove to Chandra he was a nobody because he made her angry.

See, kids, right now there is the Daadi excuse Chandra has ready at hand, for sticking to Nandini like a gum plaster.

Incidentally, he seems to have forgotten all about her supposed pash on Malayaketu, and she about his amar prem for Helena. Both topics seem to have become verboten (German for forbidden) post their Pataalgram excursion.

To revert, the problem will arise only if ( a huge IF!) and when Daadi lugs her portly self back to Piplivan. Then this excuse will vanish, and all those most ill-considered promises Chandra has made to Helena - of their having a wonderful life together post-Daadi- will all descend on him at once, like a whole barnful of chickens coming home to roost. 😆

One has also to remember is that these promises were given out of his free will, not coerced out of him in a drunken stupor, like the Las Vegas marriages! The fool will then end up between a rock and a hard place. So my bet is that Daadi will never leave Pataliputra, no matter how much you gnash your teeth, , my poor Anne! 😉

As for Sandhya's cost accounting about the respective insults Chandra has received from Helena and Nandini, it is very interesting but pointless. Chandra just does not have any amorous inclinations towards Helena, and as love, or even a physical relationship, was not part of their deal, he feels no obligation to accommodate her now that she has decided that she loves him and only him.

By now, even that reluctant sense of duty he felt towards her has vanished. So, even if she had not made that very unfortunate statement about her having made him the King, nothing would have changed in that respect.

Why should he now go and spend nights with her if he does not feel like it? Anne, your take on his sensing the very real fakeness of Helena is most perceptive, but even if she had been genuine, nothing would have changed in his response to her overtures. He just does not feel anything for her, period.

I also agree with your analysis of Helena, and of the nature of the "love" she now says she feels for Chandra. Basically, Helena is like one of those creepers that will strangle anything it clings to. Chandra is much better off at a safe distance from her.😉

To revert, come to think of it, bar that imli episode and a couple of other sequences, he hardly seems to bother about Durdhara either. Not that I blame him. Durdhara will reduce his brains to mush in one hour flat with her babbling of kalejas. 😡

The cardinal fact is that he has never been in love before, and he has fallen hard for Nandini now. So I am not surprised that he has no inclination to spend any time, not to speak of other things, with his other two wives. Nor would I blame him. Young men in love are like that only! The heart has its reasons, and all that.

As for Helena, she has foolishly abandoned the one solid hold she had over him, that of being a political aide to Chanakya, which she had till he became Magadhasamrat. And equally foolishly made it clear that all she is really interested in is queening it over the palace. Chandra has no objection to that, but if she wants sole proprietary rights over him - and make no mistake, that is what she wants! - well, that is a non-starter.

Right now, Chandra and Nandini seem to be in a world of their own, and clearly no one else has any place there. This Nandini deserves that, and so I have no problems with the so-called neglect of his other wives, of whom Durdhara hardly minds it!

In any case, at least judging from Maharana Udai Singh's obsession with his third wife in Maharana Pratap (though he continued to have high regard for his first queen, who was also the mother of his heir), Jalal in Jodha Akbar, and Jahangir and, even more so, Shahjahan in real life. this kind of behaviour seems to have been more the royal norm than the exception. I have read that Mumtaz died during childbirth basically because she would not let Shahjahan visit any of his other queens, and so she had a child every year and died bearing the umpteenth one!

But I agree fully with Prem about the royal family's incomprehensible neglect of Chhaya and her condition. Not only the two old biddies, Daadi and Mura, or the nutty Durdhara, but Chandra - which is unbelievable - and just as odd, Nandini too. She has not asked Chandra a single question about Chhaya since after the walling in charade. 😲

Thank you Sri...LOL

You see seeing Dadi and Moora with grin on their face and joy in their voice annoucing a re-marriage to Chandra was like Chanakya lighting fire in the tail of the elephant, just in my case i felt it the fire in my brain...

Oh the atrocities the old woman does!!!

As far me, have said that before . Till they keep dishing out 5-6 minutes of engaging Chandni scenes , I am hooked.

As far Daadi, I am just wondering what makes Vidya Sinha don the make up and speak those dumb lines in each episode ? If it is money, I really feel so sad for her. I will put up with Daadi act for the sake of VS.

Hello Aunty & all 😃,
Haven't read your post as yet, Aunty...So can't comment on it ...Should be great as usual...😊

I suggest Daadi should order a new lehenga for herself n shake a leg at the Sangeet of her heart throb, Nandini 😆...I wonder which song she should dance to...🤪

Why, Khushi my poppet, that is a shoo in!

Chaiyya chaiyya, of course, with that rhythmic up down, up down swaying of Malaika Arora's graceful posterior. Of course one cannot look for grace here, but Daadi's efforts to achieve that rhythm should be worth looking at.

But then there will be no sangeet, and no wedding either, if Nandini' s "ghost" does as good a job, or a better on than Banquo's. Let us await developments.

As for my post, don't bother about commenting on it, my dear. It is not necessary, and that will also save me from the guilt of adding that too to the solid backlog of responses I still have to make on this thread, while I squander my time and physical resources on a number of discussion posts. But then my time management was always lousy.
